We're looking for a top notch Senior Legal Counsel, with a depth of commercial contracts experience to join our team, initially for a 6 month contract to help us through a busy period.
You’ll need to be comfortable working across a range of commercial contract work and providing legal supervision to the less experienced members of the team. We're a fast paced, dynamic business so an ability to deliver quickly, advise pragmatically and navigate ambiguity is critical to success.
This role is initially for a 6 month contract with an immediate start.
Required Skills and Experience
To be successful in this role, you’ll need to demonstrate:
- You have a strong legalbackground, with relevant experience (preferably 6+ years PQE) working with or in a consumer facing businessrelated regulated fields)
- In house experience is essential
- Experience working with or in a regulated industry (Ideally in financial services or insurance)
- You’ll be a savvy commercial negotiator, comfortable negotiating a wide range of commercial and technology contracts, including key supplier arrangements and managing internal teams to deliver a commercial outcome and drive contracts to completion
- You’ll have experience advising technology, product and marketing teams on their commercial arrangements and contracts
- You have a proven ability to run a large, complex agenda across a broad range of activities
- You have experience working with diverse teams (ranging from technology, product to administrative functions)
- Experience of utilising legal technologies and digital tools to deliver high quality work in the most efficient ways (CLM is our current key software)

As a key member of our legal team, you will have the following responsibilities:
- Helping UW to achieve commercial outcomes across a wide range of commercial projects and key supplier arrangements across our business and helping us take an innovative approach to our product offering within a multi-regulated consumer facing environment.
- Working closely with our Energy, Finance, Telecoms and Technology teams to devise solutions that proactively manage legal and regulatory risk while advancing Utility Warehouse’s goals.
- Providing mentorship, guidance and technical support to junior legal team members on complex commercial matters
- Advising on key commercial, technology and SaaS contracts,
- Contribute to the legal resources required for our products, such as terms and conditions, marketing and brand materials, policies and guidance for our partners and technology teams.
- Providing legal and commercial advice to the teams which support our products, such as Customer Support, Communications, Partners, Sales and Marketing.
- Input into the ongoing improvement of legal operations through effective use of AI and technology tools

Reporting to the Head of Legal, you'll be joining a team of high-performing, Legal team who pride themselves on great relationships. You'll work with a range of stakeholders across the business, advising on and navigating a range of commercial legal situations involved in operating a multi-service, consumer-facing business.
Your key stakeholders will include colleagues across Commercial, Marketing, Operations, Technology, Partners and Sales.
