Senior Legal Counsel role within the Energy Division of James Fisher and Sons plc, providing expert legal guidance across a broad range of matters and supporting the Senior Leadership Team and Executive Committee.

Key Responsibilities

  • Prepare, review and negotiate a variety of commercial contracts including customer/supplier contracts, agency, and cooperation/collaboration agreements for strategic partnerships/alliances.
  • Manage disputes, litigation and supervise external legal counsel.
  • Handle a range of commercial property matters.
  • Support entity setup and restructuring to align with the One James Fisher strategy.
  • Lead intellectual property strategy and related commercial property matters.
  • Ensure operations are compliant with local laws, regulations and the Group’s policies, standards and procedures.
  • Advise senior stakeholders and present legal input to the Divisional Senior Leadership team, Exco members and Investment Committee.
  • Drive compliance programmes, deliver training and contribute to Group Legal initiatives.
  • Support and mentor junior legal team members and the contracts team.

Qualifications And Experience

  • Qualified lawyer with significant international energy services and renewables experience, typically around 10 years post-qualification (flexibility considered).
  • Strong knowledge of international contract standards such as LOGIC, FIDIC, NEC.
  • Experience in both in-house and private practice environments.
  • Proven ability to advise senior stakeholders and deliver commercially focused legal solutions.
  • Excellent communication, collaborative and team-oriented approach.
  • Leadership capability, with or without direct management experience.
