Senior Manager - Data Delivery and Partnering - NESO. The National Energy System Operator is seeking a senior leader to head data delivery and data partnership initiatives, collaborating with internal stakeholders across NESO and with Digital, Data & Technology (DD&T) delivery teams. The role focuses on delivering data capabilities, implementing data standards, and driving data literacy and partnerships to support decarbonisation and strategic objectives.
Location
Wokingham, GB, RG41 5BN (hybrid working; at least 2 days in the office per week; travel between office locations in Great Britain may be required). The role may be based in Warwick or Wokingham.
Key Accountabilities
- Lead a high-performing team of data managers, data leads, and data stewards to own data workstream components of NESO projects; develop and deliver data requirements in line with data policies and standards; address energy-related data nuances.
- Provide hands-on management of data and partnerships to business directorates to ensure compliance with data standards (data management, governance, cataloguing, monitoring, sharing, and improving data quality).
- Build and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders within DD&T and NESO partnerships to meet and exceed data needs and expectations.
- Collaborate with industry participants and directorates to understand strategic priorities and develop data strategies aligned with goals.
- Manage the data services portal for stakeholders to access key information and assets related to data capabilities and offerings.
- Drive a Data Culture and Literacy programme to enhance understanding of data concepts and ability to leverage data across NESO.
- Provide data training capabilities for NESO stakeholders as needed to support data-related responsibilities.
- Deliver data-driven insights to the NESO Leadership Team to identify risks and efficiency opportunities.
- Manage risk and issues related to data activities from strategic programmes, balancing risk and benefit.
- Act as Subject Matter Expert for data capabilities to support engagement across business initiatives.
About You
We’re seeking visionary candidates with experience in data delivery and partnerships in large, complex organisations. We expect candidates to meet the following requirements and preferred qualifications.
Requirements
- BA/BS degree in a data, technical, or related field or equivalent work experience in Data Management.
- Proven experience in senior leadership roles with a strategic mindset and track record of influencing outcomes in complex settings.
- Comprehensive knowledge of Data Strategy, Data Management, Data Governance, and Data Analytics; familiarity with methodologies such as DAMA DMBOK, DCAM, CDMC, and related tools.
- Experience designing and implementing new data management capabilities or improving existing ones.
- Experience delivering large-scale data programme initiatives and implementing data capabilities with adherence to data standards; ability to work with third parties and manage suppliers.
- Experience developing and implementing learning and training plans.
- Experience developing engagement plans for adoption of new/enhanced services with ability to communicate to broad audiences.
- Experience working in the energy sector with understanding of datasets and industry challenges; ability to address these through data.
- Proven ability to lead a high-performing team and develop talent with strong performance management.
- Proven ability to build and sustain relationships with senior stakeholders, including government officials, regulators, and industry leaders.
- Proven ability to drive behavioural change and influence culture; storytelling skills to drive outcomes.
- Ability to lead discussions across cross-functional teams and resolve complex situations with practical solutions.
- Strong written, verbal, and visual communication skills appropriate for diverse audiences.
Preferred Qualifications
- Certified Data Management Professional (CDMP) or equivalent data management certification.
