Data engineering is going to enable a strong transformation of how the CS and Fraud prevention function operates and is central to delivering a positive customer and partner experience . As a (senior) manager for Data Engineering (CS and Fraud Analytics) at Just Eat Takeaway.com, you will be at the forefront of driving our data-driven initiatives for the organisation. In this leadership role, you will guide a team of Data Engineers and Data Scientists, ensuring the successful delivery of Data & Analytics solutions. Your leadership will be instrumental in advancing our data infrastructure, optimising operational efficiency, and significantly contributing to our e-commerce success. You will play a pivotal role in enhancing our data engineering and analytics capabilities and directly impacting decision-making.
In addition to managing a data engineering team (c.6-c.8), you will also manage a small team of data scientists (1-2) to manage our initiatives in data science - exploring drivers of compensation, reorder rates, customer segmentation and partner segmentation.
These are some of the key components to the position:
Lead, drive, and support the delivery of Global initiatives within customer services organization with a focus on automation, self-serve, fraud prevention, Agentic AI and enabling data driven decision making
Provide strategic direction and technical oversight to the Data Engineering team
Mentor and develop team members, fostering a culture of continuous improvement and innovation
Establish and maintain cross-functional collaboration between different teams
Act as the main point of contact for Data Engineering-related matters
Design, review, and evolve processes for data ingestion, transformation, and delivery with a focus on automation and efficiency across batch and streaming systems
Oversee the technical aspects of data projects, ensuring high standards of quality, performance, and security
Manage project timelines and resources effectively.Ensure understanding of local business needs and priorities for systems
Stay up-to-date with industry trends and emerging technologies. Evaluate implementation / integration of emerging technologies such as LLMs
What will you bring to the team?
Experience in Data Engineering, with demonstrable experience leading and managing Data Engineering teams. Proven experience as a data engineer, software engineer, or data scientist, of which includes experience working as an engineering manager.
Advanced skills in SQL and experience with relational databases; proficiency in data transformation tools like dbt is highly desirable
Strong proficiency in Python or similar programming languages. Experience leading data science projects and using DS techniques to drive business insight
Strong experience designing and scaling data pipelines and ETL/ELT workflows using tools like Airflow, Databricks, and AWS.
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, capable of working effectively in a dynamic team environment and interacting with various stakeholders
Proven ability to lead complex projects, manage resources effectively, and deliver high-quality results on-time in a dynamic high-pace environment
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a keen attention to detail
