Senior Manager – Real Estate Advisory

The Real Estate Advisory team are sector specialists at the forefront of advising our private and public sector clients in achieving strategic, commercial, financial, and operational objectives as they pertain to real estate portfolio optimisation, development and regeneration, investment, and broader business objectives. This also extends to advising clients on the role real estate and development can play in enabling wider economic growth and renewal in line with public policy objectives. The Real Estate Advisory team has c.50 core professionals. Our platform expands to c.100 when you include Valuations and Financial Due Diligence colleagues who work alongside us, and to 200+ when you include our Tax, Accounting, Restructuring and Legal colleagues focused on Real Estate. We are seeking a dynamic and driven Senior Manager to join our team. You will play a key role in directing the delivery of high-quality advice to our clients, data and financial analysis, market assessments, strategy development, and deal execution.

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be a strategic thinker with a broad understanding of real estate operational and investment trends and issues, allied with technical knowledge gained from direct and extensive experience working for or advising occupier clients across a range of industries, or from an investor / developer perspective.

The role demands strong business development and creative problem‑solving abilities, allied to natural personal initiative, quiet confidence, and the ability to handle pressure. Enthusiasm, communication and people skills are critical, and the individual will be expected to run delivery teams on multiple projects simultaneously, lead interactive workshops, present findings to large groups of senior stakeholders and to assimilate strategic findings from quantitative and qualitative analysis.

  • Directing and shaping the development of business cases, estate strategies and options appraisals for a range of potential client objectives, including real estate portfolio optimisation, development, investment, and other commercial decision making.
  • Directing a team in conducting data analysis, financial and commercial due diligence, industry research, and market analysis.
  • Directing a team in developing financial models to assess project viability, investment returns, and scenario outcomes – including consideration of wider economic impacts/benefits.
  • Delivery of presentations and other similar client deliverables.
  • Direct complex workstreams with minimal Partner or Director oversight, including owning project commercials (pricing, scope, etc) and leading stakeholder/investor engagement.
  • Proactively assisting in the management of several clients, while taking direction from Directors and above, and owning some client relationships directly.
  • Collaborate with cross‑functional teams including market and product Subject Matter Experts in Corporate Finance, Valuations, Tax, Accounting, Economics and Legal.
  • Manage and coach junior staff, contributing to their technical and professional development.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and key stakeholders.
  • Stay up to date on market trends, regulatory changes, and emerging issues in the real estate sector.
  • Maintain a personal targeting plan (sector/proposition endorsed by Partners), including speaking at or organise industry events, seeking to create a pipeline of opportunities and project on‑sell.

Requirements

The ideal individual will be able to demonstrate a sustained level of high performance to date, a strong academic and career track record, as well as a clear rationale for wanting to join Real Estate Advisory. The individual will also be expected to have strong communication, interpersonal and numerical skills, with flexibility and resilience to work across different projects. We are looking for an individual who can demonstrate the following:

Essential Requirements

  • 8+ years of relevant experience in advisory roles (e.g. strategy, consulting, or corporate finance).
  • Strong financial modelling and data analytical skills.
  • Significant interest in real estate, development, economic renewal and the wider built environment.
  • Excellent communication, writing, and presentation skills – including, confident presenter and facilitator of workshops with senior stakeholders.
  • Strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, and problem‑solving abilities.
  • Ability to grasp complex strategic financial and commercial issues quickly.
  • Ability to communicate complex concepts and analysis in concise and easy‑to‑understand language, both verbally and in writing – including, delivering high quality formal reports, demonstrating strong analytical skills with an ability to think laterally.
  • High ambition coupled with the ability to deliver and to work effectively both individually and in teams.
  • Ability to manage multiple workstreams and meet tight deadlines.
  • Able to work effectively in multi‑disciplinary project teams including a range of specialists from PwC, the client and the client’s other advisors.
  • Commercial awareness at a level that allows identification of client requirements, business and sector knowledge to improve client service, and risks and issues in undertaking the work.
  • Highly proficient in Excel, PowerPoint, and Word. (Experience with CoStar, PowerBI, or similar tools is a plus – ability to apply new technologies to meet client requirements).
  • Agility in terms of supporting multiple projects across a range of sectors and geographies.
  • Attendance of networking events and functions in industry with a degree of external industry profile, potentially developing client relationships that lead to the direct awarding of work.
  • Clear personal targeting plan with responsibility for BD efforts, research, market mapping etc in a specific sector or proposition endorsed by the Partners of the Real Estate Advisory team.

Preferred Requirements

  • Professional qualification preferred, but not essential (ACA, CFA, RICS, or similar).
  • Experience working in a Big 4 (or similar professional services environment) or client‑side.
  • Exposure to cross‑border transactions or international clients.
  • Exposure to business case, investment or economic appraisal, or similar.

Working Practices

  • The successful candidate will be expected to work from a PwC office or client site at a minimum of 3 days per week.
  • The majority of the team are based in London, so some ad hoc travel to London may be required.
  • Travel to client site to aid with project delivery is likely to be required.
