Job Description

NEC Software Solutions is seeking a skilled and versatile QA professional to join our NEC Digital Studios division. This role will be hybrid-based from our Glasgow studio, offering a mix of office collaboration and remote flexibility. It is ideal for someone with strong experience across manual and automation testing, and a demonstrable background in UK public sector services—ideally within blue light environments.

You will play a key role in ensuring the quality and reliability of our applications, working closely with developers, DevOps, and stakeholders to deliver high-performing, secure, and user-friendly solutions.

Security Clearance Requirement

This role requires eligibility for UK Security Clearance and NPPV Level 3.
Candidates must already hold SC or NPPV3 clearance, or be eligible to undergo the vetting process.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and execute manual test cases for functional, integration, and regression testing
  • Develop and maintain automated test scripts using Selenium, TestNG, and Cucumber
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to validate requirements and identify test scenarios
  • Participate in Agile ceremonies and provide regular test progress updates
  • Manage test data and environments, ensuring readiness for each test cycle
  • Document test results and maintain QA artefacts in Confluence or SharePoint
Qualifications

Essential Skills and Experience

  • Proven experience in manual and automation testing
  • Experience working in or with public sector organisations, ideally blue light services
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills
  • Familiarity with Agile and Waterfall methodologies
  • Must be eligible for UK Security Clearance and NPPV3

Technical Proficiency

Manual Testing:Test case design, defect tracking (JIRA), exploratory testing

Automation Testing:Selenium WebDriver (Java), TestNG, JUnit, Cucumber, Maven, Git, CI/CD pipelines

API Testing:Postman, Rest Assured,

Database and Test Data:SQL (MySQL, PostgreSQL, Oracle), NoSQL (MongoDB), data masking techniques

Tools and Collaboration:JIRA, Confluence, SharePoint

Qualifications (Desirable)ISTQB Foundation or Advanced Certification
