Overview

Stantec have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our multidisciplinary Building Services team in Reading or London.

We are expanding our project portfolio and are seeking experienced professionals to help us enhance our building services engineering and environmental design capabilities. You will join an established team of engineers who are passionate about creating sustainable and resilient buildings, using BIM and the latest industry technology.

Joining an integrated team, you will contribute to delivering building solutions and working closely with clients to develop briefs and produce reports for mechanical building services requirements, including outline, scheme and detailed design, drawings and specifications, while integrating sustainability and carbon reduction strategies.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a project team to deliver multidisciplinary building services and environmental design projects.
  • Produce reports for mechanical building services requirements and develop detailed briefs in collaboration with clients.
  • Develop outline design, scheme design and detailed design reports, including drawings and specifications.
  • Integrate sustainability and carbon emission reduction strategies into project delivery.
  • Supervise an expanding team, allocate workload, check and review outputs, and monitor progress against time and budget constraints.
  • Provide mentorship to junior staff and support career development.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant discipline such as Mechanical Engineering or Building Services Engineering; Chartered with a relevant institution (IET/CIBSE).
  • Proven track record in an M&E team, ideally within a design engineering consultancy; ability to liaise with clients and multi-disciplinary staff.
  • In-depth knowledge and expertise in the design of electrical engineering services, including systems and equipment design, calculations and drawing production; familiarity with Revit and IES.
  • Understanding of the wider built environment and related design influences; knowledge of carbon emissions reduction and sustainability.
  • Awareness of Technical Standards, planning policies, British Standards and Building Regulations.
