At the start of AMP 8, we are seeking a Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our Water team in the South of England. This role can be based at our offices in Brighton, Ashford, Kings Hill or Southampton and you will grow our reputation within the local community and Water Business, by providing mechanical design services for a range of projects.

You will be involved in the whole project life cycle from feasibility and optioneering through to detailed design and construction support including site surveys and investigations. You will hold responsibility for working and liaising with project managers, technical leaders, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors, planners and other stakeholders to achieve positive outcomes for the projects and community. You will help mentor and guide less experienced members within the team.

About You

Responsibilities

  • Provide mechanical design services for water projects across feasibility, optioneering, detailed design and construction support, including site surveys and investigations.
  • Collaborate with project managers, technical leads, design engineers, clients, supply chain partners, contractors and planners to deliver positive project and community outcomes.
  • Mentor and guide less experienced team members.
  • Produce technical outputs such as design specifications, sizing and design of pumping systems and aeration systems, schedules and reports. Contribute to collaborative planning reviews and design solutions.
  • Provide engineering input for design outputs in collaboration with other disciplines, such as General Arrangement Drawings, 3D models and Piping & Instrumentation Diagrams.

Qualifications

  • Experienced Mechanical Engineer with a Degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related subject. Ideally Chartered (or on route to Chartership) or Incorporated, with experience in mechanical design.
  • Experience producing technical outputs such as design specifications, sizing and designing pumping and aeration systems, schedules and reports; familiarity with collaborative planning reviews and design of solutions.
  • Ability to contribute to design outputs in collaboration with other disciplines (GA drawings, 3D models, P&IDs).
  • Experience in the Water sector is an advantage but not essential; candidates with energy, infrastructure or environmental sector experience are also of interest.
