Note: BPSS clearance at basic level is required. Previous clearance will not be transferable.

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Mechanical Engineer to join our team. You will be responsible for delivering work packages across various system scopes for all three SEP machines, tackling mechanical handling and lifting challenges, and providing innovative solutions to ensure project success. Your expertise will drive the development of fit-for-purpose mechanical design solutions while adhering to budget, schedule, and regulatory standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Deliver mechanical design solutions for complex systems across multiple SEP machines, ensuring they are fit for purpose, on budget, and within schedule.
  2. Break down complex problems and present multiple resolution options to facilitate informed decision-making.
  3. Contribute to the production, delivery, and reporting of work plans and progress updates.
  4. Communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders, both verbally and in writing, to ensure clarity and alignment.
  5. Apply knowledge of relevant machinery regulations (e.g., SOMSR 2008, CDM, PUWER, LOLER) to ensure compliance.
  6. Review and check engineering drawings, adhering to industry standards (e.g., BS 8888 & GPS).
  7. Review, understand, and challenge engineering calculations in line with standards (e.g., BS 2573).
  8. Support the development of manufacturing specifications and resolve manufacturing queries.
  9. Assist in creating EO packs, component quality requirements, and technical files, ensuring high standards.
  10. Produce and review design substantiation and safety case deliverables, ensuring compliance with safety and engineering standards.
