This role is a 12-month fixed term contract (FTC) position, hybrid based in the London office, working on brands such as Sky HISTORY and Crime+Investigation. The Senior Media Planner is responsible for creating and delivering priority promo plans for Hearst Networks brands in the UK and internationally, ensuring promo airtime is used effectively and maintaining our collaborative relationship with our Media Planning partners at Sky.
Media Planning at Hearst Networks sits within the Marketing & Communications department and focuses on strategically communicating with our audience to help them find content they love, creating awareness of the latest TV programmes or products across multiple brands and territories.
Key responsibilities
- Create strategic owned media plans across TV & BVOD channels for Sky History and other priority Hearst brands, based on media planning expertise and historical data. Translate broader business objectives into effective campaign solutions
- Oversee the use of promo airtime across our international territories, with a focus on the Netherlands & Sweden. Ensure airtime is used to maximum efficiency and aligns with regional business requirements
- Commission relevant assets and manage campaigns on an ongoing basis once planned, reacting to schedule amendments or any influencing factors
- Work closely with the Head of Media Planning on integrated plans, collaborating with Social, PR and paid media agencies to ensure omnichannel effectiveness
- Produce PCA’s and reports to evaluate campaign performance against objectives, and ensure learnings are adopted for future campaigns; present learnings to the business when relevant
- Collaborate with external Media Planning partners at Sky, maintaining a positive working relationship, briefing them on priorities and managing cross-promotion campaigns
- Represent the Media Planning team in relevant business meetings, sharing campaign information and offering media planning expertise and guidance
- As a Senior within the team, lead by example, ensuring a high standard of work and providing guidance to junior team members; contribute to the development of the wider team
- Initiate ideas for campaign analysis and testing, taking learnings to push media planning into new avenues
Essential Skills / Knowledge
- Extensive experience planning TV media campaigns, in an agency or broadcaster environment
- Thorough understanding of promotional strategies across linear broadcast channels and how these should be adapted to deliver against business and marketing objectives
- Media planning experience across international territories
- Experience using TechEdge or similar BARB measurement tools
- Skilled in developing junior team members
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written and presentational) with the ability to explain and present complex information clearly
- Keen attention to detail and highly organised
- Ability to work in a high-volume, deadline-driven environment with capacity to manage and prioritise multiple projects
- Pro-active and self-motivated with a strong team spirit
- Strong relationship building and stakeholder management skills
- Proficient in Excel and PowerPoint, with a positive approach to learning new software
Desirable Requirements
- Experience planning & managing BVOD promo airtime
- Experience in an omni-channel campaign planning role, in either a media agency or broadcaster environment
- Understanding and experience of working with AdSmart / PromoSmart technology
