We are seeking a Microsoft Exchange & Messaging Engineer to join our client's team in London or Manchester. Hybrid model.

We are seeking a skilled Microsoft Exchange & Messaging Engineer to manage, secure, and optimize our enterprise messaging infrastructure across both on-premises and Microsoft 365 environments. The role requires strong technical expertise in Exchange Server, Exchange Online, security and compliance, and Enterprise Vault, as well as the ability to engage with senior stakeholders and contribute to messaging strategy and transformation initiatives. You’ll play a key part in ensuring our global messaging platforms are performant, compliant, and aligned with business needs - balancing hands‑on engineering with solution design and strategic input.

Required Skills and Experience

  • 5+ years of experience administering Microsoft Exchange Server and Exchange Online in enterprise‑scale environments.
  • Proven experience with Exchange hybrid deployments and M365 migrations.
  • Strong understanding of Exchange architecture, mail routing, DAGs, certificates, and load balancing.
  • Experience with Enterprise Vault, backup and recovery of messaging data, and archive retention policies.
  • Hands‑on knowledge of Microsoft 365 Security & Compliance Center, Purview, Conditional Access, and Data Loss Prevention.
  • Proficiency in PowerShell scripting for automation and operational efficiency.
  • Working knowledge of Azure AD, Identity Management, and Exchange Online Protection (EOP).
  • Demonstrated experience in security hardening, patch management, and proactive system monitoring.
  • Excellent communication skills and experience managing stakeholder relationships across business and technical teams.
  • Strong documentation and change management discipline (ITIL environment preferred).
