About the role
BP Pension Trustees Limited ('the Trustee') is the corporate trustee that manages the BP Pension Fund ('the Fund'), bp's UK defined benefit pension fund. The Fund, with assets of around £18 billion and 56,000 members, is one of the largest private-sector pension funds in the UK. It is closed to new entrants and future accrual.
We are looking for a dynamic individual to lead the Management Information and Business Intelligence function. Working with the Head of Pension Administration, you will design, develop and deliver high-quality data and reporting solutions that support strategic planning, operational efficiency and regulatory compliance. You will act as the central expert for all MI & BI activities, transforming data into actionable insights for partners across the Trustee''s activities.
What you will do
- Develop and maintain a robust MI/BI framework aligned with organisational objectives and regulatory requirements
- Define and implement data governance standards to ensure consistency, accuracy and security of reporting data
- Lead the design and delivery of integrated administration MI/BI reporting infrastructure
- Translate complex data sets into clear, actionable insights for senior collaborators through trend analysis, forecasting and scenario modelling
- Identify key performance indicators (KPIs) and build automated dashboards for real-time monitoring
- Design, build and maintain high-impact reports and dashboards using Power BI, covering daily, monthly, quarterly and ad-hoc needs
- Act as a trusted advisor to business units, understanding their data needs and delivering bespoke reporting solutions
- Collaborate with IT, Finance, Risk and Compliance teams to ensure data alignment and integrity
- Present findings and recommendations to senior leadership and trustees in a clear, compelling manner
- Lead initiatives to improve data quality, completeness and timeliness across systems
- Identify and implement opportunities to automate manual reporting processes and reduce operational risk
- Support integration of new data sources and systems into the BI ecosystem
- Deliver training and mentoring on BI tools, data literacy and self-service reporting, championing guidelines in analytics
What you will need to be successful
- Degree in Data Science, Business Analytics, Computer Science, Finance Reporting or a related field, or equivalent work experience
- Professional certification in BI platforms (e.g., Power BI)
- Demonstrable experience in an MI/BI data analytics role, ideally within pensions or financial services
- Advanced proficiency in BI tools and data modelling techniques
- Solid experience working with databases, data warehouses and data automation tools
- Familiarity with regulatory reporting requirements in the pensions or financial sector (e.g., TPR, FCA)
- Excellent data manipulation skills and capacity-planning ability
- Ability to interrogate and produce comprehensive data reports across diverse activities
- Skilled in developing and delivering PowerPoint presentations
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Flexible, proactive, self-motivated, logical and organised approach
- Ability to perform under stress and meet tight deadlines
- Exceptional attention to detail and a passion for continuous improvement
- Understanding of handling sensitive and confidential data
