LastingAsset is a cybersecurity spinout from Edinburgh Napier University, pioneering solutions to combat impersonation fraud using cryptography and privacy-preserving machine learning. The Role

We’re looking for an experienced Senior Mobile Developer to join our close-knit team of 4 and lead the development of robust, secure, and production-ready mobile applications. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape our mobile engineering practices in a fast-growing startup where your contributions will directly influence product direction and success.

Contract: Full-time position with an initial 6-month focus, reflecting startup growth. Contract terms are flexible based on company development, performance, and business needs.

What You’ll Work With

Core Technologies:

  • React Native (vanilla) with TypeScript
  • Tamagui for UI components
  • State management with Zustand/Redux
  • Build tools: Gradle & CocoaPods

Development & Testing:

  • Jest & React Testing Library for unit testing
  • Detox for E2E testing (bonus points!)
  • CI/CD with GitHub Actions

Platform & Services:

  • Background tasks, FCM/APNs push notifications, Notifee
  • App security with AppAttest & Play Integrity API
  • Secure coding practices and compliance with app store requirements

What You’ll Do

  • Lead the design, development, and deployment of mobile features using TypeScript & Tamagui
  • Ensure applications are production-ready in terms of both security and functionality
  • Oversee automated deployment pipelines for publishing apps to Apple App Store and Google Play Store
  • Debug and optimize performance across iOS and Android
  • Write and review comprehensive unit and integration tests
  • Mentor junior developers and guide code reviews
  • Collaborate with an agile team on cybersecurity innovations

What We're Looking For

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in computer science or related field, OR equivalent industry experience
  • 3+ years of professional experience in mobile app development, including production releases
  • Proven track record of deploying apps to Apple App Store and Google Play Store, including managing CI/CD pipelines
  • Strong expertise with React Native and TypeScript
  • Deep understanding of app security, data protection, and compliance requirements
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to make architecture decisions
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables

Bonus Points

  • Experience leading small development teams or mentoring junior developers
  • Familiarity with Git, emulators/simulators, and advanced debugging tools
  • Interest in cybersecurity or cryptography
  • Previous startup experience

Location

Based in Edinburgh with hybrid working. We’d prefer candidates near Edinburgh for occasional office collaboration, but we’re open to discussing arrangements with the right candidate.
