As a Senior Modern Workplace Engineer (Azure Virtual Desktop), you will join a high-performing team of Modern Workplace experts focused on advancing the state of the art in Modern Workplace solution areas. The team drives customer adoption through technical leadership on strategic, complex, and transformative consulting projects. You will work on innovative solutions powered by the Microsoft Cloud, contributing to life-changing innovations that impact millions of people worldwide.

What you’ll do

  • Lead the architecture, design and deployment of Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365 solutions, through requirements gathering, client discussions, industry and technical expertise.
  • Collaborate with clients to deliver innovative solutions.
  • Support internal knowledge sharing and teamwork through open communication.
  • Stay current with the latest trends and technologies utilising Avanade’s close ties with Microsoft.
  • Contribute to virtual communities and internal technical forums to share insights and strengthen Avanade’s industry presence.

Skills and Experiences

  • 5+ years of hands-on technical experience in designing and implementing enterprise-scale virtual desktop environments using Azure Virtual Desktop and Windows 365.
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Endpoint Manager (Intune), Configuration Manager, Entra ID, FSLogix, and Azure networking and security best practices.
  • Proficient in PowerShell scripting and infrastructure-as-code using ARM or Bicep templates.
  • Experience with Microsoft 365, Defender for Endpoint and Zero Trust security principles.
  • Hands-on familiarity with third party tools such as Nerdio Manager for Enterprise, Nexthink and Patch-my-PC.
  • Working knowledge of other virtual desktop solutions such as Citrix Virtual Apps and Desktops, VMWare Horizon or Remote Desktop Services (RDS).
  • Certified in one or more relevant Microsoft exams: MD-102, AZ140 and/or MS102.
  • Proven problem-solving skills, with a track record of troubleshooting and resolving complex technical issues within these technologies.
  • Demonstrated experience leading complex technical engagements and delivering high-impact outcomes.
  • A security-first mindset, with strong awareness of best practices and hands-on experience implementing security measures within the Microsoft environment.
  • Passion for staying current with industry trends and a commitment to continuous, self-driven learning.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
