We are looking for outstanding Senior Network Engineers to join our community of tech experts to assist in the design of Infrastructure services in collaboration with Architecture and Engineering principles. This role involves building and maintaining digital solutions used broadly in government services, with a focus on secure, scalable network services.

What you will do

  • Lead and guide teams, improve systems, and drive automation to enhance network operations.
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, support teams, and external partners to deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Design, implement, and maintain network services, including cloud-based and on-premises components.
  • Communicate effectively to document network designs and procedures; proactively identify potential issues and take ownership.

Responsibilities

  • Influence and lead with strong communication skills; document network designs and procedures effectively.
  • Extensive NGFW expertise, especially Palo Alto Firewalls with centralized management via Panorama.
  • Advanced network architectures and routing: VXLAN overlays, EVPN, multi-site fabrics, VRF segmentation, and dynamic routing (OSPF, BGP) with Arista technologies.
  • Traffic optimization and load balancing: experience with F5 ASM, APM, and DNS.
  • Understanding of public cloud solutions (AWS, Azure, OCI) including Automation & DevOps practices; Infrastructure as Code, Configuration as Code, and CI/CD pipelines for network operations.
  • Cloud Wi-Fi knowledge: Aruba Central, AOS10, and ClearPass for cloud-based Wi‑Fi authentication.

Qualifications and skills

  • Strong experience in Next-Generation Firewall design and management (Palo Alto with Panorama).
  • Proven ability to design and operate complex network fabrics and routing protocols.
  • Experience with load balancing solutions and security-focused network design.
  • Hands-on experience with cloud platforms and IaC/CI/CD practices relevant to networking.
  • Practical knowledge of Cloud Wi‑Fi solutions and cloud-based authentication.

Details, wages and perks

Location: Location options include digital hubs in Birmingham, Blackpool, Leeds, Manchester or Newcastle.

Hybrid Working: Hybrid model with time at home and in hubs.

Pay: Up to £68,517 plus 28.97% employer pension contributions.

Pension: Employer pension contributions of 28.97% (approx. £16,000 per year).

Holidays: 26 days rising to 31 days over time, with up to 3 extra flex days per month plus public holidays.
