Overview

Senior Network Engineer role at University of Leeds. This role will be based on the university campus, with scope for hybrid working and flexible arrangements. The position is a 12-month fixed-term assignment to support the major network transformation and the embedding of a Network Operations Centre.

You will bring technical expertise, analytical mindset and collaboration to support and maintain the campus network. You will act as a technical escalation point, provide 2nd and 3rd line support, and contribute to projects involving Azure networking as part of shaping the future of digital infrastructure at the University.

You will have extensive experience of supporting and managing core infrastructure at a campus network scale, providing technical expertise in the development, support and maintenance of wired and wireless technologies, and the move to Azure Cloud Services and Zero Trust networking.

You will engage with suppliers, customers and stakeholders of network data and voice infrastructure, providing technical evaluation and input to ensure the best value for the University. You will be part of the team delivering the future transformation of network infrastructure to support the University’s digital strategy. You will have in-depth knowledge of networking infrastructure, can provide 2nd and 3rd line support, and often act as a point of technical escalation for colleagues. You will have knowledge of delivering and supporting software defined networking within campus and data centre environments, and you will contribute to projects and project planning by presenting information to both technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

  • Provide technical escalation and 2nd/3rd line support for campus network infrastructure (wired, wireless, and SDN) and related services.
  • Support and maintain the move to Azure Cloud Services and Zero Trust networking.
  • Engage with suppliers, customers and stakeholders to evaluate network data and voice infrastructure and ensure value for the University.
  • Contribute to network projects and project planning, advising at a technical level and communicating with both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Collaborate on the delivery of the network transformation and the embedded Network Operations Centre.
