Senior OpenShift Engineer VMware & Storage Integration

Job Title: OpenShift Architect - VMware & Storage Integration

Location: Sheffield (Hybrid - 3 days/week onsite)

Duration: 6 months + Extension

THIS PROJECT IS INSIDE IR35

Responsibilities:

• Design and implement OpenShift platforms integrated with VMware and enterprise storage solutions

• Ensure compatibility and performance between OpenShift, VMware tools (vSphere, vCenter, NSX), and storage (eg FlashArray/FlashBlade)

• Architect scalable, secure OpenShift environments that support CI/CD and DevOps workflows

• Lead migrations to OpenShift and define strategies for secure, resilient deployments

• Collaborate with DevOps, Development, and Operations teams to ensure alignment with business needs

• Document architecture decisions, configurations, and migration playbooks

• Provide technical guidance and mentorship across teams

Required Skills (Mandatory):

• Strong background designing and implementing OpenShift platforms

• Strong experience in Openshift

• Kubernetes and containerisation expertise

• Hands-on experience with VMware tools (vSphere, vCenter, NSX)

• Experience with enterprise storage platforms (eg Pure Storage FlashArray, FlashBlade)

• Deep understanding of networking (load balancing, ingress, DNS)

• CI/CD tooling experience (eg Jenkins, GitHub, ArgoCD)

• Application and workload migration to OpenShift

• Scripting and automation (Bash, Python, Ansible, Terraform)

Bonus Skills:

• OpenShift certifications (eg Red Hat Certified Specialist)

• Experience with multi-cluster or hybrid cloud OpenShift

• Familiarity with Helm, OpenShift Operators

• Monitoring/logging tools (Grafana, oTel, Splunk, ELK stack)

• Large-scale migration project experience
