Role Overview

As a Senior Paid Media Technical Specialist, you will be responsible for the end-to-end technical management and strategic development of Google and Microsoft Shopping campaigns, ensuring campaign performance consistently exceeds company KPIs. You will leverage and optimise internal management tools, advanced advertising platforms, data analytics, and internal feed management tools to drive scalable, data-driven growth.

Key Responsibilities

  • Internal Set Up & Optimisation
    • Review the internal set up based on the financial and commercial strategy.
    • End-to-end technical setup of campaigns and their tracking structures to ensure efficient and scalable management on Google Performance Max (PMax), Google Shopping Ads, and Microsoft Advertising.
    • Optimise the use of Google Ads, Microsoft Ads, CSS Centre, and Merchant Center interfaces.
    • Utilise GA4 for deep campaign performance analysis and actionable insights.
    • Optimise bidding strategies, budget allocation, and keyword/product targeting adjustments to maximise ROAS and conversions.
  • Technical Advisory & Implementation
    • Provide guidance on architecture, setup, and ongoing management of Google Shopping campaigns, including feed configurations in Google Merchant Center, CSS Shopping Ads, and Performance Max asset groups.
    • Configure and manage enhanced tracking setups (Google Tag Manager, conversion tracking, offline conversions, cross-device attribution).
    • Troubleshoot feed issues, data discrepancies, and policy compliance in Google Merchant Center and Microsoft Merchant Center.
    • Advise on audience segmentation strategies including Customer Match, Similar Audiences, and RLSA in Google Ads and Microsoft Ads.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration
    • Partner with PPC, Product, and Data Engineering teams to leverage product catalogs, align strategies, and refine audience targeting using first-party data and CRM integrations.
    • Collaborate with technical teams to ensure feed data integrity, automated data pipelines, and campaign automation workflows.
  • Technical Troubleshooting & Problem Resolution
    • Diagnose and resolve campaign delivery issues, feed disapprovals, tracking anomalies, and bid strategy conflicts.
    • Use diagnostic tools (Google Ads Editor, Merchant Center Diagnostics, Microsoft Ads Intelligence) to identify root causes and implement fixes.
  • Strategic Recommendations & Documentation
    • Develop technical documentation, best practice guides, implementation details, and performance analyses.
    • Tailor strategic solutions based on client goals, historical data, and market trends.

Person Specification

  • Minimum 5 years’ hands-on experience managing large-scale Google Ads accounts with a strong focus on Shopping campaigns (Performance Max, PLA, CSS).
  • Proficient in end-to-end product data feed management using Google Merchant Center and Microsoft Merchant Center, including troubleshooting feed errors and automating feed uploads.
  • Deep understanding of Google Ads advanced features: audience targeting, Smart Shopping, Performance Max, local inventory ads, dynamic remarketing, conversion tracking, offline conversions, and Google Analytics integration.
  • Ability to troubleshoot complex technical issues related to feed management, campaign delivery, tracking, and bidding strategies.
  • Strong analytical skills with advanced Excel capabilities and experience handling large datasets.
  • SQL proficiency is a strong plus for data querying and integration tasks.
  • Excellent communication skills to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders and document processes clearly.
  • Highly detail-oriented, organized, and able to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Creative problem solver with a proactive approach to campaign optimisations.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within cross-functional teams.
