Job Overview
Our client, a leading consultancy in the Defence & Security and Aerospace sectors, is currently seeking a Senior PCB Design Engineer to join their dynamic team.
Key Responsibilities
- Generating manufacturable designs from engineers’ schematics
- Schematic and PCB footprint library management, scripting for BoM, and generating manufacturing data-packs
- Maintaining relationships with suppliers, auditing, and understanding advances in PCB technology solutions
- Negotiating stack-ups, supplier timescales, and costs with PCB and build contractors
- Taking technical responsibility for PCB design and manufacture, tracking deliverables
- Ensuring deliverables meet agreed timelines, specifications, and quality standards in accordance with ISO9001
- Performing internal and external customer design reviews with strong presentation skills
- Maintaining high professional standards and driving towards execution efficiency
Job Requirements
- Strong portfolio of completed PCB design projects, especially in RF, microwave, and millimetre-wave designs
- High proficiency in PCB design tools, particularly Altium; familiarity with Siemens PADS is advantageous
- Strong knowledge of Surface Mount Technology, DFA, and DFM techniques
- Good understanding of IPC standards for high reliability products and EMI/EMC requirements
- Experience in product design and development, integrating with electronic and mechanical design teams
- Ability to innovate and help resolve challenging design tasks
- Confident communicator, capable of engaging with external suppliers and internal stakeholders
- HNC/HND or degree in Electronic and Electrical Engineering with specialisation in PCB design
- Minimum of 5 years' experience in electronics hardware design and product development
