Senior Planner

TipTopJob is seeking a Senior Planner for a Tier 1 contractor with a regional office in Southampton to work on a GBP 200 million plus scheme for the MOD in Aldershot. The company is one of the most successful and profitable contractors in the country, with an annual turnover in excess of GBP 1 billion.

Roles typically target schemes between GBP 30 million and GBP 250 million on frameworks and repeat business opportunities with long-term clients, as well as single-stage regeneration and development schemes up to GBP 150 million. Typical projects include large schools and multi-phased education schemes, student accommodation, MOD and large infrastructure schemes, distribution hubs, and large multi-use retail and leisure developments.

Key responsibilities include:

• Involvement at tender and bid stages, collaborating with estimating, design and commercial teams to establish specifications, phasing, strategy and the initial construction programme.
• Updating and amending the overall programme and individual package programmes on site until bid/tender submission.
• Managing the programme through to start on site, regularly visiting site, updating short and long-term programmes, identifying time-saving opportunities and potential clashes, and ensuring packages are released on time.
• Working with design teams and supply chain to ensure bespoke items and packages are let in good time and milestones are met.
• Monitoring progress and adapting future bids and programmes for best practice in collaboration with commercial and design teams.

Desirable qualifications and experience include:

• Experience with tier 1 or large regional contractors on schemes above GBP 30 million and experience of D&B projects and framework negotiations.
• Competence with NEC contracts, strong attention to detail, organisational skills, and the ability to identify opportunities and issues.
• Proficiency with software such as Asta, 4Projects, and experience with BIM and BREEAM.
