Senior Pricing Actuary – New Pricing Team - Lloyd's
We’re looking for a commercial and analytically driven Pricing Actuary to join a fast-growing Lloyd's MGA. This is a high-impact role where you’ll work hand-in-hand with underwriters, influencing real-time decisions on complex and niche risks, while also driving strategic pricing initiatives across a diverse portfolio.
You won’t be “just another cog” in a machine. This is a chance to shape models, challenge assumptions, and see your actuarial insight make an immediate difference to underwriting outcomes and portfolio profitability.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Partnering with underwriters on complex risks, providing clear actuarial insight to support commercial decisions.
- Delivering pricing analyses including experience & exposure rating, inflation/mix/adequacy reviews, benchmarking, and horizon scanning.
- Building and enhancing account-level pricing models, ensuring robustness and scalability.
- Defending and explaining loss picks to senior management and capital providers.
- Monitoring portfolio performance, spotting profitability trends, and recommending pricing or underwriting actions.
- Supporting strategic pricing projects: new model development, process improvement, and exploration of new data/analytical tools.
- Acting as a mentor to analysts, reviewing work and fostering technical excellence.
- Contributing to catastrophe exposure management, ensuring risk appetite is met and reflected in decision-making.
What We’re Looking For
We’re looking for someone who is both technical and commercial—an actuary who enjoys diving into the numbers, but also thrives on explaining them to underwriters, brokers, and senior stakeholders.
Skills & Experience:
- Qualified Actuary (FIA or equivalent) with 5+ years in London Market / Lloyd's.
- Strong knowledge of actuarial pricing techniques across multiple classes (property, casualty, liability, etc.).
- Track record in individual account pricing and portfolio monitoring.
- Excellent communicator – able to translate technical insight into commercial impact.
- Highly desirable: coding skills (Python, R, SQL) and experience with data visualisation (PowerBI, Tableau, Qlik).
- Commercially minded, comfortable making decisions amid ambiguity.
- Strong problem-solving ability – enjoys tackling novel challenges.
- Curious, proactive, and execution-focused.
- A collaborative team player with the confidence to challenge when needed.
Why Join?
This is not a role where you’ll get lost in a giant function or silo. Instead, you’ll:
- Work directly with senior leadership and underwriters on deals that matter
- Influence pricing strategy across multiple lines, not just one niche class
- Be part of a small but growing team, where your impact is felt daily
- Gain exposure to diverse products, system enhancements, and portfolio-wide initiatives
- Competitive package with up to 50% bonus
If you’re looking for a role where actuarial thinking genuinely drives underwriting strategy, and where you’ll have both visibility and autonomy, this is the opportunity for you.
