The Opportunity

Arup’s Air Quality team operates as a national practice across UK offices. We are seeking an experienced Senior/ Principal Air Quality Consultant to join our National team in the UK, based in one of the London, Edinburgh, Birmingham, Newcastle or Leeds offices. The candidate will have a strong commercial outlook and technical expertise in atmospheric dispersion modelling, infrastructure planning, industrial air pollution and air quality monitoring, with opportunities to be involved in diverse projects.

In this role you will lead a wide range of air quality projects as part of a multidisciplinary team or as standalone projects. You will provide high quality technical consultancy and advisory support to clients, lead delivery of projects on time and to budget, lead technical air quality assessments and reports, and support site visits where necessary. You will also support business development and work winning activities and provide technical and pastoral support to junior team members.

Responsibilities

  • Lead a wide range of air quality projects, either as part of a multidisciplinary team or as standalone projects.
  • Provide high quality technical consultancy and advisory support to clients.
  • Lead the delivery of projects on time and to budget.
  • Lead technical air quality assessments and reports; support site visits where necessary.
  • Support business development and work winning activities.
  • Provide technical and pastoral support to junior members of the team.

Qualifications

  • A bachelor’s or master’s degree in a relevant subject.
  • Member of the Institute of Air Quality Management (IAQM) and Institution of Environmental Science (IES). Chartered status with IAQM/ IES or actively working towards it is desirable.
  • Demonstrable track record of leading and managing a wide range of air quality projects in terms of scale and sector.
  • Highly competent using air quality dispersion software (e.g. ADMS, AERMOD) together with pre- and post-processing analysis. Proficient in GIS and data visualisation tools (OpenAir, PowerBI, etc). Python and carbon assessments are desirable.
  • Full UK/EU driving licence.
