It’s time your experience counted for something. You’ve kept projects — and teams — steady when it mattered most. Now it’s time to have a say in what happens next.
This is the kind of opportunity that doesn’t come around often — a genuine succession plan.
The Partner wants someone to hand the reins to, not another cog in the machine. Initially you’ll run jobs your way and take over small aspects, in 18 months’ time you’ll take over the day-to-day running of the regional team (that will be around 6 staff).
That means managing people, clients, and the entire programme — mentoring, planning, resource and P&L. Everything that comes with leadership. The Partner will focus on growing the function, and you’ll move into their seat.
This opportunity is real. They’ve already done it in the Midlands — their Senior there became a regional head, then Associate Partner in two years. Two big pay rises later, they are proof that this could work exactly the same way for you.
You’ll manage projects between £5m and £50m across multiple sectors, so there’s variety and stability in equal measure. The company’s grown 30% recently and is still pulling in new work every week. It’s young, ambitious, and buzzing with energy — led by a young management team who are more interested in development than hierarchy.
It’s also a flexible setup: one or two days a week in the office, the rest from home or wherever suits you. No business development, no selling — just leading, delivering, and building something you’ll lead.
You’ll like the people too. The leadership listens. If something’s not working, they’ll change it. Policies get rewritten because someone spoke up.
You don’t need to be the finished product to apply or already be working at Associate or AD level, they even prefer it if you’re not.
What You’ll Be Doing
Running your own CDM projects — client-facing from start to finish.
Leading delivery your way, with the freedom to manage how it’s done.
Taking over the management of the southern team within 18 months.
Mentoring and developing others, shaping best practice and culture.
Overseeing programme, resource and financial management.
Working across multiple sectors on projects £5m–£50m in value.
What You’ll Need
Strong experience leading CDM projects as Principal Designer or Consultant.
Confidence in client-facing roles and design team environments.
A genuine interest in management, people and growth — yours and others’.
APS and/or NEBOSH credentials preferred (or working towards, they will help with this).
About the Company
A growing, modern consultancy where energy and opportunity are matched by respect and balance. No red tape, no endless hierarchy — just a supportive environment that rewards trust, initiative and results. The people here are happy because they’re listened to, backed, and promoted on merit.
