Join Ramboll as a Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer – High Voltage (Critical Systems) and work with our Critical Systems Team to deliver electrical design expertise across the UK. The role involves guiding graduates and technicians and applying in-depth design engineering knowledge to ensure high standards.

Your new role

As our new Senior/Principal Electrical Engineer – High Voltage (Critical Systems), you will provide electrical design expertise for the UK-wide Critical Systems Team. You will guide graduates and technicians and demonstrate your in‑depth understanding of design engineering.

Responsibilities

  • Manage your own project work
  • Complete detailed designs to the required standards and supervise the work of others in this function
  • Manage time on projects to suit deadlines and complete your assigned tasks as stipulated by the Ramboll project manager
  • Maintain excellent levels of client service

What the team works on

Our Critical Systems team works across a broad range of markets. We are looking for people with skills in any or all of the following areas, and with an attitude to learn and expand into new areas:

  • Detailed design of electrical distribution at MV and LV
  • Application of renewable technologies (battery energy storage, hydrogen, wind)
  • Rail power delivery solutions (Network Rail and TfL)
  • Power generation and control
  • Detailed design of electrical installations for special locations
  • Use of specialist software (ETAP, Paladin, Trimble)

You will be part of a highly dynamic team with a strong focus on detailed technical delivery and client care. The environment is supportive and collaborative, offering opportunities to develop, grow, and progress with increasing client-facing duties and mentoring of junior engineers and apprentices.

About you

We support your personal and professional development. The following qualifications, skills, and capabilities will help set you up for success. You should demonstrate good attention to detail, pride in your work, and the ability to motivate and inspire confidence in peers and clients.

  • Qualified Engineer with a proven and demonstrable track record in your discipline
  • CIBSE/IET Engineering Council accredited honours degree, or an HNC in an applicable discipline with commitment to continuing education
  • Understanding of financial arrangements for projects including fee forecasting, fee preparation, and allocation
  • Proven ability to manage multiple projects at once
  • Forward thinking and passionate about digital design innovation and smart design in a digitalized construction arena
  • Experience across sectors such as Building Services Design, Site surveys & inspections, Snagging, Client & design team meetings (desirable)
