Overview

Stantec is seeking a Senior Principal Landscape Architect to join the Landscape Architecture team based in Manchester or Warrington. The role focuses on landscape planning and landscape design for a variety of project types, with a primary emphasis on projects within the Water sector. The position offers opportunities to work on schemes of national importance, including wetland design, habitat improvements, Sustainable Drainage Systems (SuDS), and stormwater interventions that benefit local communities. Flexible working arrangements are available, with hybrid work combining home and in-office days.

The opportunity is suitable for qualified Landscape Architects with a strong background in landscape planning who can demonstrate experience preparing landscape and visual impact assessments (LVIAs) and appraisals, and who are seeking career progression within a Registered Practice of the Landscape Institute.

Responsibilities

  • Provide landscape planning and landscape design input to projects, including preparation of LVIAs and appraisals for UK planning applications.
  • Lead on a wide variety of project types and scales, primarily in the Water sector, and contribute to fee proposals and discipline task management.
  • Develop and maintain strong client and project team relationships; undertake field and visual survey work across the UK.
  • Mentor and support the development of team colleagues and collaborate with other teams within the wider business.
  • Support the growth and objectives of the Landscape Architecture team as a senior member of the practice.

Qualifications

  • Degree or equivalent in Landscape Architecture or a related subject; ideally Chartered Member of the Landscape Institute (CMLI).
  • Proven experience in preparing LVIAs and appraisals for UK planning applications, with strong report writing skills.
  • Good knowledge of environmental planning issues, UK planning legislation, and environmental impact assessment regulations.
  • Ability to coordinate with multiple technical disciplines and understand client needs to deliver sustainable solutions within time and cost constraints.
  • Strong stakeholder engagement, organizational, and teamwork skills; proactive and collaborative approach to development of colleagues.
