We are currently seeking a
Senior Process Engineer to provide
unparalleled consulting services to our clients.
You will apply your expert Mining Engineering experience to a variety of metallurgical projects, working alongside our international team of technical experts.
This key role requires a versatile and experienced individual to join our team in a dual-role capacity as both Senior Process Engineer and Project Manager. This is a dynamic position, ideal for someone capable of leading process engineering deliverables while also managing multidisciplinary project execution. This is a hybrid role, with approximately 50% of the time spent in the Cornwall, UK office or traveling to client and project sites, depending on project requirements.
Reporting to the Managing Director of the UK Office you will be performing a range of duties, including but not limited to:
Process Engineering Key Responsibilities:
- Develop process design criteria for new and existing projects across a variety of commodities.
- Develop Process Flow Diagrams (PFDs).
- Perform mass and water balances, process simulations, and design calculations.
- Size and specify equipment and instrumentation for various process applications.
- Develop, review, and supervise metallurgical testwork programs to support design and optimization.
- Support the preparation of NI 43-101-compliant technical reports and mining studies, including contributions to desktop studies, PEAs, PFSs, and FSs.
- Prepare technical reports and process memos.
- Conduct due diligence assessments and prepare related technical documentation.
- Contribute to resource estimates, as required.
- Review Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs).
- Review detailed engineering deliverables and project documents, including equipment lists, control philosophies, data sheets, equipment packages, scopes of work, and more.
- Review technical bid evaluations and vendor documentation.
- Supervise package engineering and associated coordination activities.
- Work closely with, and mentor, junior team members to support their development.
- Participate in site visits, field assessments, and support construction and commissioning activities.
Project Management Key Responsibilities
- Carries clear responsibility and accountability for delivery of the objectives for a project taking into consideration the full project lifecycle including engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning and project controls.
- Coordinates, monitors and controls the project in line with the detailed scope, cost and schedule control baselines and manages any project changes in terms of this agreed baseline.
- Exercises budgetary control to ensure costs are not exceeded without proper authority. Provide such information as is required to obtain additional authorization where necessary.
- Ensures governance on the project, specifically compliance to project delegations of authority, procedures and policies.
- Coordinates and monitors team members in their performance and influences their activities as necessary to ensure project requirements are achieved.
- Considers the resourcing requirements for projects and partakes in securing these resources as well as defining the projects resourcing requirements.
- Ensures measurement of progress on all contracts for reporting and progress claim purposes.
- Ensures forecast of cost and schedule is updated in the project EAC and project forecast end date on a monthly basis.
- Communicates regularly with team to ensure that goals and priorities are clearly understood.
- Works closely with and mentors other team members, especially junior members.
- Securing growth opportunities and initiating new projects.
- Assist with project delivery across the lifecycle: engineering, procurement, construction, commissioning, and project controls.
- Coordinate, monitor, and control projects in line with scope, cost, and schedule baselines, managing changes as required.
- Exercise budgetary control to ensure costs are maintained and obtain authorization for changes when necessary.
- Communicate regularly with the team to ensure alignment on goals and priorities.
Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities:
- University Degree in Engineering from an accredited University.
- 10 to 15 years of experience in process engineering and/or project management.
- C.Eng. registration.
- PMP registration as asset.
- Experience in engineering, procurement and construction and other project-related activities, their interfaces and interdependencies.
- Proven background of resourcefulness under pressure.
- Must have strong oral and written English communication skills.
- Ability to communicate in other languages is a strong asset.
