Overview

Title: Senior Process Engineering Consultant

Salary range: £60,000 to £70,000 per annum

Location: Bristol or Manchester

Working Pattern: We operate a flexible hybrid working pattern at Frazer-Nash, with time split between the office, client sites and working from home.

Closing date: 12th October. We encourage early applications, as vacancies may close once we receive sufficient applications.

We are developing and growing our process, fluid and heat transfer engineering services across a range of industries, particularly low carbon energy vectors, nuclear power and the process industry. Our people work across a varied range of clients.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the process engineering design of potentially complex fluid systems, including at pilot plant or test rig scale.
  • Support the safety assessment of the design, particularly where this involves novel clean energy systems.
  • Work collaboratively as part of multi-disciplinary teams developing safe designs for new facilities or modifications for existing plant.
  • Meet with clients to understand their needs, and lead the production of proposals for work to address these.
  • Mentor, develop and encourage less experienced colleagues in planning and delivering process engineering work, and participating within the process engineering profession.

What working as a Senior Process Engineering Consultant will be like

  • Winning work: Developing new business by responding to enquiries and writing bids, and representing Frazer-Nash at client meetings, conferences and seminars.
  • Taking the lead: Managing all aspects of technical projects, including client communication, project delivery and other staff involved in the project.
  • Developing capability: Strengthening and developing our capabilities, aligning these to what our clients need now and will need in future.
  • Variety: Working on a wide range of projects, from short tasks lasting a few weeks to many years of sustained support.
  • Teamwork: Working as part of a supportive group, developing your skills, seeking advice and sharing experience to support colleagues’ development.
  • Professional recognition: We value chartered engineer and fellow status, and we mentor and support employees to achieve this.

Minimum requirements

  • You’ll be an experienced Process Engineer, either Chartered with IChemE or with equivalent experience.
  • You’ll have experience leading the design of process systems across industries from concept through detailed design, including development of process simulations and P&IDs, and experience working in a multi-disciplinary team with complex interfaces.
  • You’ll have a good understanding of fluid flow and heat transfer behavior that drives component selection and sizing, applicable to unusual fluids and operating conditions.
  • You’ll have experience presenting designs at HAZOPs and design reviews, and understand the Functional Safety Lifecycle and how HAZOP and LOPA contribute to this.
  • You’ll have some experience working with stakeholders to plan work and agree budgets, and some experience managing packages of work to time, quality and cost.
  • You’ll be able to communicate effectively with project stakeholders, both verbally and in writing.
