Senior Product Manager - Preferences at BBC. Location: Hybrid (London, Newcastle, Salford, Glasgow or Cardiff). Contract type: Permanent. Salary: £80,000 - £90,000 depending on relevant skills, knowledge and experience. Flexible working can be discussed; if you’d like to indicate a preference, please do so in the application. Purpose of Role

To lead the vision, strategy, and delivery of user preferences and controls capabilities in the Account and Identity platform team. You will ensure user preferences (privacy, content, follows, interests, notifications, and marketing) are managed in a consistent, transparent, and scalable way. You will shape a core platform capability that underpins personalisation, compliance, and user trust across BBC digital services.

Your Key Responsibilities And Impact

  • Define and lead the product vision and roadmap for the BBC’s User Preference store.
  • Run product discovery to identify user needs, stakeholder requirements, and compliance obligations.
  • Collaborate with engineering, design, privacy, and data teams to scope, prototype, and deliver preference solutions.
  • Translate user and compliance needs into actionable product requirements for cross-functional teams.
  • Ensure the Preference Centre is reusable, extensible, and aligned with platform strategy.
  • Partner with internal stakeholders to enable consistent preference handling across products, marketing, and personalisation journeys.

Skills And Experience

Essential Criteria

  • Proven experience as a Product Manager, ideally in user-facing or platform capability roles.
  • Strong track record of leading discovery and defining product strategies in complex organisations.
  • Deep understanding of user preferences, privacy, and consent management in digital services.
  • Ability to balance user needs, compliance requirements, and platform scalability.
  • Experience working with cross-functional teams including legal, compliance, marketing, and data.

Desirable but Not Required

  • Background in coordinating cross-functional teams to identify shared capabilities and simplification strategies.
  • Familiarity with privacy-enhancing technologies, data protection frameworks, or marketing consent regulations (e.g. GDPR, PECR).
  • Experience with preference management systems at scale.
  • Background in designing reusable, cross-product capabilities or services.
  • Systems thinking or integration with CDP & CRM.
  • Proficiency with tools like Jira, Confluence, and modern collaboration practices.

Interview Process

The interview process will be two stages and held on MS Teams. The first stage includes a short presentation/scenario, followed by the second interview where you’ll demonstrate the required competencies through examples from your experience. Interviews are scheduled for w/c 20 October 2025.
