Senior Product Manager - Remote (UK-based)

Location: Ideally Southwest/Wales based — Remote, with travel to South West/Wales once per month. Type: Full-time | 12-18-month Fixed Term Contract | Salary: Competitive (depending on experience).

We’re on the lookout for a Senior Product Manager who thrives in fast-paced, agile environments and is excited by the idea of working across a portfolio of high-impact digital products—all while helping shape the future of a rapidly growing, people-first consultancy. This is a confidential opportunity to join a talented team delivering meaningful, user-centred change for public and private sector clients alike. If you’re someone who brings structure to chaos, loves solving complex problems, and can bring stakeholders with you on the journey — we’d love to hear from you.

Note: This is a consultancy role supporting transformation programmes for government and other clients.

The Role

This isn’t your typical in-house product role.

As a Senior Product Manager you’ll be working across multiple digital product teams—often in parallel—leading the strategy and execution of products that sit at the heart of transformation programmes. You’ll manage everything from early discovery to MVP delivery and live service iteration.

Your first few months will include:

  • Leading product strategy for a new government digital service
  • Supporting a cross-functional team to refine and deliver user-centred features
  • Helping embed product thinking into a client organisation new to agile ways of working

It’s varied, collaborative, and always focused on delivering value fast — without compromising on quality.

Essential Skills

  • 3+ years’ experience managing digital products, ideally in consulting or agency settings
  • Proven ability to develop product strategy and turn it into a clear, actionable roadmap
  • Confident running discovery, alpha, beta, and live phases—especially in government settings
  • Deep understanding of Agile, Waterfall or Hybrid delivery—you can flex based on context
  • Experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, from researchers and designers to engineers and analysts
  • Strong stakeholder management—confident presenting to senior leaders and securing buy-in
  • A hands-on attitude—you're not afraid to get into the weeds, whether it's backlog grooming or user story writing
  • Ideally you will have experience working with GDS standards and the public sector
  • You will have a consultancy or agency background — you'll be used to switching contexts and juggling priorities

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the Product Vision
    • Create compelling product strategies that align user needs with business goals
    • Build and maintain actionable product roadmaps
    • Prioritise ruthlessly—focus on what delivers the most value
  • Lead Delivery with Confidence
    • Run delivery ceremonies and sprint planning sessions with confidence
    • Collaborate with analysts, designers, developers and stakeholders to deliver high-quality digital services
    • Ensure the team is always focused on the right problems at the right time
  • Be a Champion for Product Thinking
    • Evangelise product management principles internally and with clients
    • Mentor team members and support the development of product culture
    • Help clients understand the value of product strategy and user-centred design
  • Support Business Growth
    • Contribute to tenders, pitches and client proposals
    • Spot opportunities for future work while embedded with clients
    • Help shape Empyrean's growing product capability from the inside out
