Senior Program Officer, Global Health - Architecture and Collaboration (9-month LTE) role at Gates Foundation. The Foundation is the world’s largest nonprofit fighting poverty, disease, and inequity. We seek candidates who can help shape the global health architecture and collaboration with key global health institutions and donors.

What You’ll Do

  • Lead components of the Foundation’s work with key global health institutions and funds to identify opportunities for change that increase health impact.
  • Focus on near-term improvements and long-term evolution of the global health ecosystem, including interactions among major GHIs (e.g., Global Fund, Gavi, GFF) and other partners like the World Bank and WHO.
  • Engage with GHIs in four areas of established collaboration: malaria, in-country coordination, health systems strengthening, and back-of-house functions.
  • Plan for the longer term by driving strategic planning to optimize policies, structures, funding modalities, and program focus to respond to future challenges.
  • Collaborate across Foundation teams and with external stakeholders to support the architecture for global health.
  • Location: London; Report to the Deputy Director, Health Funds & Architecture, GHAF. This is a nine-month limited-term position; relocation is not provided.

Your Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, development, international relations, public policy, or related field, and/or progressively senior level experience in global health.
  • Deep understanding of GHIs (especially Global Fund, Gavi, GFF) including governance, strategies, operating models, and processes; experience with secretariats and governing bodies; knowledge of bilateral and multilateral donors, governments in low- and middle-income countries, implementing agencies, and NGOs engaged with global health institutions.
  • Experience developing strategies and theories of change to influence strategic, programmatic, policy, and resource decisions of GHIs; ability to anticipate future possibilities and understand political economy.
  • Experience navigating complex relationships among governmental, non-governmental, and private sector partners with tact and diplomacy, including formal governing bodies and forums.
  • Project management experience with a portfolio of grants or complex initiatives and consultation processes.
  • Proven ability to work in cross-matrix programs, adapt to a fast-paced environment, and build coalitions; strong influence and collaboration skills.
  • Excellent written, facilitation, and oral communication skills to produce evidence-based materials and recommendations quickly.
  • Ability to build trust across diverse partners, internally and externally.
  • Knowledge of product access, introduction, and scale functions of the global health ecosystem, and the role GHIs play in enabling equitable access to health products, including familiarity with procurement mechanisms and market-shaping tools.

  • Ability to travel up to 30% domestically and internationally.
  • Must be legally eligible to work in the country where the position is located without visa sponsorship.
