The Role

The Major Programmes Senior Delivery Programme Manager will lead the technology delivery of major transformational programmes across the SSE Distribution business. Responsibilities include managing a budget of £150m+, leading and coordinating solution development teams and third parties, and building delivery capability within Distribution through extensive programme and project implementation experience. The role requires understanding the Distribution business requirements and the regulatory environment to achieve the desired outcomes. It also includes managing the operational aspects of the delivery teams, ensuring compliance with risk, legal, security and other regulatory requirements. A key part of the role is developing a supplier partnership approach to achieve business outcomes while ensuring commercial and efficient delivery. The role is accountable for realising programme objectives and key results, and must adapt to changing business environments. Strong collaboration with the Distribution Executive team and IT Leadership team is required to ensure alignment with other ongoing work.

You will

  • Develop the strategic approach and manage commercial and service contracts, ensuring alignment with quality, risk, and compliance standards.
  • Deliver comprehensive technology and change management strategies as part of major transformation programmes or incremental changes as part of continuous improvement.
  • Lead Executive governance and engagement for Major Programmes to understand business outcomes and translate these into tailored change delivery projects and plans.
  • Cover all aspects of change management: leadership, governance, stakeholder engagement, communications, learning, business readiness, and adoption.
  • Manage and oversee product delivery teams and third parties and provide leadership to mentor and coach teams across technology delivery.

You have

  • Experience in vendor/third-party management with knowledge of contract practices and strategic supplier relationship management.
  • In-depth understanding of IT products, services and systems; Oracle and AWS product literacy is desirable.
  • Experience in delivering business-focused outcomes with technical solutions, including managing stakeholders at an executive level.
  • Energy industry knowledge and/or regulated business understanding. advantageous experience in cyber security, CRM and modernisation transformations.
  • Strong negotiation, time management and analytical skills with a focus on driving value and continuous improvement in vendor strategies.
