The project:
A large defence capital works programme which, over 15 years, will contribute to the upgrade of the UK’s strategic defence capability. Mace (in partnership with the client and other industry organisations) will establish and subsequently manage the programme management organisation overseeing the delivery of numerous complex and varied capital works projects.
To help lead the development, implementation, use and maintenance of Control processes, the Project Controls Manager will work either within the project delivery team, on behalf of the Programme Partner, liaising with a variety of stakeholders across the programme. Due to the strict security requirements, candidates must be a UK National and will need to progress through security clearance.

You will create and design effective implementations of PMO and Project Controls frameworks and strategies on assigned commissions.
You will support best in class service delivery and effective engagement with wider industry and professional bodies to promote Mace
You will be developing your expertise in PMO and Project Controls, with a growing internal and external network (e.g. clients, contractors, consultancies and other stakeholders).
Supporting the Senior Project Controls Manager and Project Managers through the introduction and implementation of the Programme Controls processes and procedures and project systems.
Assist in leading, coaching and supporting all staff within the Project Controls team.
Responsible for visibility, accuracy, and transparency of the project critical path
Provide interface, direction and coordination across a specific area/scope of work within the project – close working relationship with project teams including engineering, project managers and Procurement and the Commercial functions.
Act as the focal point for control of work against schedule and definition of project progress for a specific area/scope of work – directly inform the Project Controls of decisions relative to re-allocation of resources and scheduling of activities.
Deliver end to end project controls management from design to commissioning.
Responsible for supporting schedule management and reporting for the project – including cost and earned value reporting and management, other partners schedule management.

You will supports the HUB PMO and Project Controls Director with resourcing and recruitment for the assigned commission.

You’ll also have:
HND or equivalent qualification in engineering, construction, quantity surveying or another related field.
Understanding of project controls methodologies and techniques.
Ability to understand and use appropriate systems and software.
Good understanding of earned value analysis.
Build lasting client relationships and provide support to strong, motivated teams.
Proven relevant experience in project management or project controls environment in a similar role in a construction or consultancy background.
Nuclear sector experience is desirable.
Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent demonstrable professional or personal development.
Deep property or infrastructure project management expertise.
Strong commercial and financial acumen.
Leadership and management experience of large, diverse teams.
Experience of managing relationships with key senior stakeholders.
Knowledge of how carbon and sustainability considerations will shape the outlook of the projects you are working on.
