Job Description Summary

During a period of rapid expansion GE Vernova is looking to recruit Project Engineering Leaders to work on our exciting new projects within our North & Southern European Grid Solutions Business. You’ll be based from one of our office locations (up to 3 days per week) and we have a flexible approach to working with a hybrid system and reduced hours on Fridays.

As a Project Engineering Leader you will instruct, supervise, coordinate and lead the engineering activities of the project in line with safety, quality, time delivery, and cost criteria. You’ll be the technical lead of electrical design and engineering of large energy projects, preparing specifications, leading on deviations and clarifications, and attending FATs and SATs.

Roles And Responsibilities

  • Responsible for issuing the consolidation of provisional drawing list, integrating submission dates.
  • Manage global time schedule of engineering activities, ensuring coherence with procurement, construction, and commissioning.
  • Plan and manage delivery of technical interfaces, organising exchange interface sheets with partners, customers, and contractors.
  • Ensure on‑time delivery of design to stakeholders with suitable quality including partner documents.
  • Support the Project Engineering Director and Project I&I manager with engineering change management on large & complex projects.
  • Lead and coordinate design teams, supported by Primary, Secondary and Civil Designers.
  • Follow the engineering budget and identify potential savings, highlighting any required additional budget to the Project Manager.
  • Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews according to EMH procedures and project strategy.
  • Manage scope or design changes, prepare related claims and VO for approval.
  • Analyse customer technical requirements, prepare clause‑by‑clause analysis and ensure compliance through technical queries.
  • Represent customer interests in design decisions upon request by the Project Manager.
  • Validate design throughout customer acceptance.
  • Ensure management of project documentation status (approved, comments, resubmit, rejected) is performed for your work package.
  • Prepare or review technical specifications and supplier documents to enable procurement of materials and detailed design.
  • Check effectiveness of design against contract requirements and project budget, looking for global cost optimisation.

Required Qualifications

  • Engineering degree level or equivalent education/experience.
  • Experience as a lead engineer in EPC‑type environments.
  • Successful experience in project technical management within a multi‑disciplinary team, handling multiple interfaces and international product sourcing.

Desired Characteristics

  • Knowledge of the Transmission or Distribution industry.
  • Exceptional interpersonal and leadership skills.
  • Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of Renewable Energy systems.
  • Knowledge of GIS systems.
