Overview

Senior Project Manager - Water role at Mace, an inclusive employer and a member of myGwork – LGBTQ+ Business Community. The client is a utilities provider in the South East, delivering environmentally sustainable, economically beneficial, and socially responsible services. The role sits within capital delivery and leads project teams with internal and external stakeholders to deliver water and water recycling projects within AMP8, ensuring governance, risk, cost and change control, and collaboration across the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead project teams in a collaborative environment and manage the simultaneous delivery of water and water recycling projects and/or programmes within the AMP8 programme.
  • Follow project governance procedures including risk, cost and change control; work with other teams to deliver projects.
  • Own projects throughout the life-cycle from concept to handover and closeout; prepare, update and implement the project management plan; monitor progress, interdependencies, issues and risks; take corrective action as needed.
  • Drive design development, initiate surveys/site visits as necessary, and write works information in line with the project business case.
  • Undertake contract administration with knowledge of NEC3/4 contracts; ensure delivery to approved quality, time, and budget.
  • Prepare specifications, tender and contract documents, including risk registers and schedules; assess tenders for contract award with procurement and production colleagues.
  • Ensure compliance with project environmental, CDM 2015, health and safety, water quality and environmental standards, WIMES, CESWI7 and statutory legislation; conduct regular reviews, inspections and audits.
  • Manage contractors and third-party interfaces (e.g., planning, land/access, power supply negotiations) in line with the project programme.
  • Engage with clients and stakeholders, maintaining strong relationships and effective governance across complex third-party relations.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Water sector experience preferred or within a regulated industry with at least 8+ years of project management experience delivering large, complex, or multiple infrastructure/capital schemes.
  • Digitally savvy with familiarity in project, programme, and financial management tools such as Oracle and Primavera P6; ability to build lasting client relationships and lead motivated teams.
  • Ability to work seconded in the South-East and travel to multiple sites.
  • Membership of RICS, CIOB, APM, ICE or equivalent professional development, or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Experience in property or infrastructure project management; commercial and financial acumen.
  • Experience leading parts of projects within large, diverse teams and developing relationships with senior stakeholders.
  • Knowledge of carbon and sustainability considerations shaping project outlook; full UK driving licence.
