Shape the future of water — lead one of the UK’s most ambitious infrastructure programmes
We’re looking for an inspiring and experienced Senior Project Manager to lead the delivery of a truly transformational programme — the front-end development of Anglian Water’s multi-billion-pound Reservoirs Programme.
If you’re passionate about delivering major, complex projects in the water or infrastructure sector, thrive on challenge and change, and are ready to take accountability for shaping critical national infrastructure, this is your chance to make a lasting impact.
The Reservoirs Programme focuses on two new, large-scale raw water reservoirs — the Fens Reservoir and the Lincs Reservoir — along with all the associated infrastructure. Serving the East of England and East Midlands, this is the largest and most complex programme of work ever undertaken by Anglian Water — securing sustainable water supplies for generations to come.
This nationally significant programme involves securing planning approval for each scheme via the Development Consent Order (DCO) process, as well as developing the procurement and delivery strategy for future licenced Infrastructure Providers (IPs), who will ultimately design, build, finance, and operate the reservoir systems.
As a Senior Project Manager, you’ll take ownership of high-value, strategic assets or workstreams on either the Fens or Lincs Reservoir, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality delivery against schedule and budget. You’ll oversee the achievement of key milestones across the RAPID, DCO, and DPC/SIPR procurement processes while also supporting, developing, and guiding your team to deliver strategic outcomes within your remit.
This is a hybrid role, and you’ll be expected to work at least 3 days a week in person at one of our offices — in Peterborough, London, or another Anglian Water or partner location — and be available to support critical site activities when needed.
What you’ll be doing
Project Delivery: Lead and oversee one or more work packages through all stages of the reservoir programme — from design, consents and procurement through to construction and commissioning — ensuring delivery to budget, schedule, and quality standards while maintaining a strong focus on health, safety, and welfare.
Team Leadership: Manage, mentor, and develop a team of Project Managers, fostering a collaborative, high-performing environment and ensuring clear roles, objectives, and alignment with programme goals.
Stakeholder Engagement: Support effective engagement and communication with internal and external stakeholders, including regulators, partners, and the public, ensuring alignment with the engagement strategy and timely reporting.
Regulatory & Governance Compliance: Ensure compliance with RAPID regulatory requirements and Anglian Water governance processes, overseeing timely documentation, approvals, and adherence to established procedures.
Performance & Continuous Improvement: Monitor and report on package performance, manage risks, changes, and opportunities, and drive process improvements and best practices across the programme.
