The Role: As a Senior Proposals Engineer, you will take a leading role in securing new business by preparing winning proposals and tenders. You will work closely with Sales, Engineering, and Project teams, ensuring proposals align with technical and commercial requirements while delivering optimal value to customers. Additionally, you will mentor junior team members and contribute to continuous process improvements.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead the development of high-quality proposals, including scope, estimates, pricing, and commercial terms.
• Interpret customer enquiries and RFQs, ensuring a clear understanding of technical and commercial requirements.
• Engage with customers to refine requirements and build strong relationships.
• Organise and oversee site visits and meetings with key suppliers and subcontractors.
• Support and guide Sales Engineers during customer meetings throughout the bid process.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Commercial, and Project teams to assess technical and commercial risks.
• Prepare and review RFQs for suppliers and subcontractors.
• Act as the primary contact for customer queries, negotiations, and proposal clarifications.
• Maintain accurate records of proposal progress, ensuring senior management is informed.
• Support project teams during the handover of successful bids, ensuring smooth transition.
• Drive continuous improvement initiatives within the proposals function.
• Ensure compliance with Health, Safety, Environmental, and Quality policies.
• Provide mentorship and technical guidance to junior Proposals Engineers.

What We’re Looking For

• Strong mechanical and electrical engineering knowledge.
• Minimum of 5 years’ experience in a proposals or sales role within an engineering environment.
• Demonstrated experience leading complex proposal development.
• Ability to interpret technical specifications and commercial terms with a strategic mindset.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and relationship-building abilities.
• Commercial awareness and ability to assess risk vs. return on investment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Degree or HND in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering.
• Experience working with CHP, BESS, Gas Peaking, Data Centres or Hydrogen
• Previous experience mentoring or leading a team.
