Senior Rail Estimator (PMCM Rail) role at WSP

Join to apply for the Senior Rail Estimator role at WSP. This position leads the rail estimating function within the PMCM Rail group, delivering cost estimates and guiding the development of the rail estimating team.

Your role

You will lead our rail estimating function and play a pivotal role in our client-facing commercial team as part of the PMCM Rail Group. Your responsibilities include estimating, cost planning, procurement and cost assurance of projects ranging in size and complexity for internal and external clients. Your principal role is to deliver cost estimates and lead the development of the rail estimating team. The role offers opportunities to broaden skills across cost and commercial management in diverse environments. You will work with a specialist estimating team and have opportunities for personal development and promotion within WSP. You will collaborate with client teams, multi-disciplinary project teams, client offices, and site locations to deliver programmes of regional and national importance.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

• Rail estimating experience and knowledge of measurement methods such as the Rail Method of Measurement (RMM1), MMHW and CESMM4.
• Relevant educational background
• Good technical writing, client-facing and communication skills
• Knowledge, ability and experience in Estimating/Cost and Commercial competencies
• Estimating software experience (e.g., CostX and CANDY)
• Bottom-up estimating experience from first principles
• Drive to contribute to a growing team and develop a digital service offering
• Working knowledge/experience of NEC Contracts and other contract forms
• Ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and stakeholders
• Experience in Rail Systems/Engineering Estimating and/or Commercial Management in a consultant, contractor, or client organisation
• Demonstrable Estimating, Cost and Commercial Management experience in the Rail sector and/or civil engineering/highways projects
