We have a permanent opportunity as a Senior Safety & Compliance Operations Officer, within our Building Safety Team. You’ll be based from our offices in Basingstoke with the opportunity to combine office and home working to ensure a positive work/life balance.

The Role

The role will support the Safety and Compliance Specialist - Fire and wider Building Safety and Compliance team on all fire safety matters on behalf of SNG. Utilise technical expertise, experience in passive and active fire measures, and in-depth practical knowledge of fire risk assessments and risk mitigations. The role is responsible for maintaining high data quality in the Building Safety and Compliance team. Ensure that data is held centrally for full transparency and that suitable contract arrangements are in place for the continued management of all compliance elements within your defined areas. Working closely with the Building Safety Compliance Fire Manager, this role will work with Building Safety Specialists to ensure management and controls of SNG's risk and responsibilities relating to fire door management.

Responsibilities

  • Promote a positive collaborative culture of building safety and compliance
  • Work across the Building Safety and Compliance team with an emphasis on fire safety elements
  • Deliver the right outcome for our customer in a safe and timely way
  • Proactively identify upcoming changes in legislation, regulations and landlord responsibilities to ensure SNG compliance
  • Review the design of new builds to ensure it is suitable and sufficient in line with RIBA plan of works
  • Provide technical support across to the fire safety team on passive and active fire installations
  • Attend sites to meet external parties such as the Fire Brigade and take accountability of actions required in relation to fire safety
  • Manage direct reports with a focus on articulating a clear vision and fostering accountability, high performance, and continuous improvement

We are looking for someone who has

  • Experience of working to deadlines and achieving targets
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Up-to-date knowledge of fire safety legislation
  • Demonstrable knowledge and experience of fire safety within the Housing Sector

Qualifications and experience

  • Membership of the IFE / IFSM or an equivalent membership body
  • Up-to-date knowledge of fire safety legislation and building regulations
  • Award in Practical Fire Risk Assessment (e.g., IFE or CS Todd)
  • Knowledge of methods to monitor data quality and identify issues (e.g., reconciliations)
