Base pay range The Software Developer role will sit within Social Security Scotland’s Chief Digital Office (CDO), which has a remit to provide infrastructure and systems to support the wider social security programme and Social Security Scotland. At this role level you will
plan and lead development on sets of related stories; understand the whole system and take responsibility for teaching this to others; work with other disciplines to understand what needs to be built; coach and mentor more junior colleagues; operate the production services you build; and find ways to improve system robustness, resilience and stability.
Responsibilities
manage service components to ensure they meet business needs and performance targets; identify process optimisation opportunities and contribute to implementing proposed solutions; participate in the information security process; design and implement embedded security controls in solutions and services; apply modern standards and guide others to do so; review specifications and collaborate with others when necessary; design, code, test and document medium‑to‑high complexity programs or scripts using the right standards and tools; and participate in team prototyping and advocate the use of prototypes and testing.

Building solutions to problems of high complexity using Curam Social Program Management and independently designing, coding, testing and documenting high‑complexity programs or scripts using the right standards and tools; Developing and debugging Curam Social Program Management to define monitoring, alerting and operational procedures, consistently identifying, locating and fixing faults.

Technical / Professional Skills This role is aligned to Senior Developer within the Digital, Data and Technology Profession. The skills will be tested during the Technical Assessment if you are successful at the sift stage. Reserve list In the event that there are more successful candidates than posts available, a reserve list will be kept for up to 12 months. Working pattern Standard hours are 35 hours per week with flexible options. All colleagues will spend a minimum of 2 days per week in the assigned Glasgow or Dundee office. Security checks Successful candidates must complete the Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) before appointment.
