What we do

Vypr is a Manchester headquarters‑based Private Equity/Venture Capital backed SaaS business. Our market‑leading product intelligence platform provides reliable consumer data to help manufacturers and retailers understand what their customers want to see on shelves. This helps reduce the time and cost spent developing new products, which makes for better products, faster.

We’re a scale‑up business with huge growth ambitions. We’ve proved product‑market fit with our existing offering and are now ready to scale at pace, using scalable new technology to reimagine our product intelligence platform with limitless future potential, from personalisation to AI‑enhanced insight.

Our cross‑functional, agile product team collaborates to design, build, and deliver Vypr’s brand‑new AI‑driven platform. Comprising software engineers, QAs, managers, designers, and a delivery manager, the team is guided by modern tech principles—such as a serverless‑first approach, event‑driven architecture, and CI/CD—to build scalable, secure, and highly available solutions that drive innovation and growth.

Things that you will do

  • Contribute to the backend development of Vypr Platform and APIs using AWS Serverless technologies (Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, etc.) with Node.js and TypeScript, adhering to modern development standards.
  • Write, review, and maintain high‑quality code in Node.js (TypeScript), following best practices. Collaborate with cross‑functional teams (product managers, designers, engineers, and QA) to scope, break down, and deliver complex technical tasks.
  • Drive best practices in software engineering, including DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automated testing strategies.
  • Mentor and support engineers, fostering a high‑performance culture and helping team members grow technically.
  • Apply DevSecOps, CI/CD, and automated testing strategies to keep deployments fast and safe.
  • Identify and address technical debt, balancing feature development with long‑term system improvements.
  • Research and evaluate new technologies, recommending innovations that enhance performance, security, and developer productivity.
  • Contribute to the technical strategy, aligning backend development with business objectives and future growth.

  • Aligning backend work with overall platform architecture by collaborating with the Lead Software Engineer.
  • Supporting peers through code reviews and knowledge sharing to foster a high‑performance culture.

What you are good at

  • Solid experience with Node.js, TypeScript, AWS, and microservices, building scalable APIs and services.
  • Strong hands‑on experience with AWS serverless architecture – including Lambda, API Gateway, DynamoDB, EventBridge, Cognito, and SQS/SNS.
  • Comfortable with software design principles like SOLID, dependency injection, and common design patterns.
  • Ability to write and maintain Infrastructure as Code using CDK in TypeScript and experience with CI/CD pipelines such as GitHub Actions or AWS CodePipeline.
  • Experience with React or Next.js is desirable but not essential.
  • Mentorship, drive best practices, and make informed technical decisions that improve system stability and developer efficiency.
  • Proactive identification of technical challenges, optimisation of performance, and balance of trade‑offs between innovation and maintainability.
  • Effective cross‑functional teamwork with product managers and designers to deliver high‑quality solutions.
  • Clear communication with both technical and non‑technical stakeholders, ensuring shared understanding.
  • Continuous learning—staying up to date with industry trends, evaluating new technologies, and driving improvements in development processes.
