Senior Software Engineer (Content Delivery & Security)

Our stack handles millions of requests per second across 119+ PoPs on six continents. Your job? Making it faster, safer, and more efficient.

As a Senior Software Engineer on our Content Delivery & Security team, you’ll work on core CDN and DNS systems while helping build out our greenfield Shield product, focused on WAF, DDoS mitigation, and bot protection at a global scale.

You’ll design and optimize low-level systems that accelerate clean traffic and stop attacks in real time, fine-tuning for latency, resilience, and performance at the edge.

If you like digging deep into protocols, tuning performance at the edge, and building robust systems that hold up under real-world high-volume traffic, this role is for you.

What will you do?

• Design and build core features for our CDN, DNS, and Shield products with a focus on performance, scalability, and security
• Collaborate across teams to evolve distributed systems for content delivery and edge security
• Write and maintain code that processes millions of requests per second with low latency and high availability
• Implement and evolve our WAF, DDoS mitigation, and bot detection capabilities in real time at the edge
• Work closely with network and security engineers to refine our TLS/SSL, HTTPS, TCP, and reverse proxy configurations
• Diagnose and solve complex problems in large-scale distributed systems and networking stacks
  
  

• Proven experience working on CDN, edge computing, or other distributed systems products
• Strong programming skills in one or more backend languages such as .NET (C#), Java, or similar
• Deep understanding of HTTPS, TCP, DNS, TLS/SSL protocols, and reverse proxy technologies like Nginx
• Prior experience in a cybersecurity-related field and working knowledge of WAF/DDoS techniques
• Track record of delivering reliable, scalable, and secure systems under real-world traffic conditions
• Willingness to learn, adapt, and contribute to a fast-evolving technical stack
  
  

• Hands-on experience or knowledge of WAF, DDoS mitigation, and bot detection technologies
• In-depth knowledge of DNS standards and scalability challenges
• Strong communication skills to clearly share complex technical ideas within and across teams
• Passion for optimizing performance and security at the edge
• Familiarity with content delivery architectures and reverse proxy tuning
