Senior Software Engineer I – myGwork (LGBTQ+ Business Community) – Join the Elsevier inclusive team focused on scientific research support.
About the Role
As a Senior Software Engineer, you will build capabilities to support scientific researchers through the process of submitting research for publication. You will help evolve our technology in response to researchers' needs and the ever‑changing technical landscape, including the use of AI technologies.
Responsibilities
- Design, develop, and deploy applications in a cloud‑hosted distributed system as part of our next‑generation product.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders to identify requirements and gather feedback in a fast‑moving environment.
- Contribute to architectural decisions to ensure stability and performance.
- Support and mentor team members, sharing knowledge and upskilling your team.
- Identify and implement enhancements to continually improve our delivery process.
Requirements
- Proficiency in JavaScript/TypeScript or Java and willingness to learn the other.
- Experience with both front‑end (particularly React) and back‑end frameworks.
- Experience with build tools, Git, and continuous integration.
- Familiarity with designing and developing for cloud environments.
- Strong collaboration skills to create innovative solutions for the research community.
- Experience with alerting, monitoring, and logging tools.
- Proficiency with a modern IDE and refactoring tools.
- Open to discussing and improving team working practices.
- Experience with test‑driven development and mocking libraries.
- Interest or experience with AI‑based solutions.
