Overview

Senior Software Engineer - Java and or Kotlin - Equity Derivatives – VP, London-based role within Citi. The role is a technical and delivery lead to design and build a pre-trade request-for-quote and pricing platform used by the Equity Derivatives and Delta 1 desks globally. Collaborate with front office sales, trading, quants and other teams to define and deliver solutions in a fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Deliver consistently excellent code, adhering to team standards and industry best practices.
  • Identify and define necessary system enhancements to deploy new products and process improvements.
  • Partner with multiple related teams to ensure business-critical goals are met efficiently and within agreed timescales.
  • Resolve high-impact problems and projects through in-depth evaluation of complex business processes.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of current system processes and industry standards.
  • Develop knowledge of relevant business areas and understand their goals and long-term strategy.
  • Serve as advisor or coach to mid-level developers and analysts, operating within an agile / frequent delivery mindset.
  • Assess risk in business decisions, ensure compliance with laws and regulations, uphold Citi’s reputation, and escalate and manage control issues with transparency.

Required Qualifications

  • Experience as a technical lead senior developer.
  • Extensive experience in analysis and development of production-quality software applications.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience working on microservices, container/cloud deployment and hosting designs.
  • Understanding of financial instruments, ideally Equity Derivatives and Delta 1 asset classes.
  • Proficient in multi-threading and parallel task programming.
  • Proven experience in robust testing practices and maintaining clean CI/CD pipelines.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with Kotlin, Kafka, ELK.
  • Experience leveraging AI/LLM tools for coding.
  • Understanding of trade booking and lifecycle processes.
  • Knowledge of MiFID II, Dodd-Frank regulations and controls.
  • Knowledge/experience of FIX flows and related RFQ/workflow platforms.
  • Additional technology: React JS, Apache NiFi, Mongo, DBaaS, SaaS, Tibco/Solace or similar messaging middleware.

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience in a similar role.
