About the Role

We’re building an intelligent digital companion that transforms holiday planning from stressful to joyous. As a Senior Software Engineer on the Holiday Experience team, you’ll lead the technical charge in creating a product that anticipates needs, simplifies complexities, and unlocks extraordinary experiences for our customers. We’re crafting peace of mind and delivering joy through our mobile and app platform.

You’ll join a cross-functional team of engineers, product managers, designers, data analysts, and researchers to help people holiday better, and more often. You’ll play a pivotal role in driving the evolution of our App platform, at the intersection of engineering, product and user experience.

What you’ll be doing day to day

This is a genuinely senior role. While you’ll be focused within the Holiday Experience team, you’ll have significant ownership of our App platform – driving its maturation and evolution to align with our broader business and technical strategy. Your decisions will impact how our mobile experience evolves, and your architectural choices will set the foundation for years of growth. We’re looking for someone who balances technical excellence with business velocity, who can establish platform standards that enable other teams, and who has a proven track record of taking ownership and solving complex problems.

Responsibilities

  • Lead projects that require the work of multiple engineers, taking full ownership from conception to delivery
  • Guide and mentor junior and mid-level engineers, fostering a collaborative team culture
  • Design scalable, reliable, and maintainable systems that power our mobile app experience
  • Balance engineering excellence with speed to market through experimentation and technical debt management
  • Work closely with product managers, designers, and data analysts to translate business goals into technical solutions
  • Lead inclusive, constructive dialog with team members and related teams when disagreements arise
  • Provide system-wide design guidance to the team’s architecture

Full-stack capabilities

  • TypeScript in a React and Node.js context
  • Node.js for backend-for-frontend services
  • AWS and Kubernetes for running services

Qualifications and attributes

  • A passion for creating high-quality, user-focused digital experiences
  • Previous experience leading technical delivery in an Agile environment
  • A customer-focused mindset and ability to think from the user’s perspective
  • Ability to break down complex problems into manageable components and prioritise effectively
  • Experience collaborating with product managers, designers, and other cross-functional teams
  • Strong communication skills to articulate technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders
  • Experience working with React Native apps
  • A drive for continuous learning and keeping up with industry trends

Interview process

We’ll start with a call with our Talent Acquisition team, followed by a 3-stage interview process, all conducted on Microsoft Teams. If you require any reasonable adjustments during the interview process, please let the Talent Acquisition team know and they will assist.
