Senior Software Engineer – 12‑Month Fixed Term Contract

Salary: circa £80,000 (advertised salary achievable for a candidate fulfilling all role criteria)

About The Role

• Design, build, and deliver complex software solutions using Python, Django, and React, ensuring scalability, reliability, and quality.
• Set a high standard for software quality by implementing advanced testing strategies, driving code reviews, and advocating best practices in development.
• Support the growth of junior and mid‑level engineers through coaching, technical guidance, and knowledge sharing.
• Identify opportunities to adopt new tools, frameworks, and practices to improve efficiency and future‑proof our solutions.
• Take ownership of building and maintaining robust, observable systems with strong SLAs to ensure high availability and performance.

About You

• Extensive experience in Python and Django, with a strong understanding of designing and building APIs in Django.
• Proficiency in relational databases such as PostgreSQL, with a strong ability to optimise queries and manage complex schemas. Familiarity with NoSQL databases is advantageous.
• Demonstrated ability to design and evolve microservices‑based systems, ensuring resilience, scalability, and alignment with architectural best practices.
• In‑depth experience with AWS, including advanced use of services such as SNS/SQS and S3. Knowledge of deploying into k8s is a bonus.
