CE&S handles all up services across the company, including consulting, customer success, and support. The Customer Experience Engineering (CXE) team, within the Office of the CTO for CE&S, focuses on Microsoft’s Cloud and AI Platform. We hire hands-on cloud engineers to work on challenging projects using the Azure platform and contribute to core Azure products to improve the platform. ResponsibilitiesWork directly with our most strategic customer projects worldwide to ensure success on the Azure platform, focusing on designing and helping customers build production applications and reduce technical debt. Engineer technical artefacts, products, and guidance to optimize customer adoption of Azure.Provide input to the strategic direction of Azure engineering teams by ensuring they understand end-to-end technical details from the customer perspective.Develop and mentor technical delivery personnel within the Customer Success organization.There may be up to 25% travel for this role, with occasional on-site work across EMEA and at Redmond, WA to engage with the broader CE&S organization and Azure engineering teams. CXE software engineers are remote workers who can be based across different Microsoft locations or home offices. QualificationsRequired/minimum qualificationsBachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 4+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Additional or Preferred QualificationsMaster's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 6+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or related technical field AND 8+ years technical engineering experience with coding in languages such as C, C++, C#, Java, JavaScript, or Python OR equivalent experience.Ideal candidate will have breadth across Azure and cloud computing topics, plus specialist hands-on expertise in areas such as Application Development, Infrastructure, and Data & Analytics, with knowledge spanning: Application Development: engineering distributed applications, programming languages (C#, JavaScript/TypeScript, Java, Python), designing scalable Azure solutions, application patterns, messaging and integration, databases/NoSQL, telemetry, microservices, containers, CI/CD, source control, and open-source technologies. Infrastructure: cloud infrastructure modeling, resiliency and geo-availability patterns, Azure networking (ExpressRoute, BGP, SD-WAN), migrations, operations at scale, identity and access control, security and governance, infrastructure-as-code, and container-based workloads. Data and Analytics: relational/OSS databases, Azure Cosmos DB, big data and data lake concepts, advanced analytics, streaming, visualization, data governance, ML/AI with Azure tools, and AI services. Candidates should demonstrate a technical propensity to learn new technologies and stay current with Azure advancements. Ability to meet Microsoft, customer, and government security screening requirements, including the Microsoft Cloud Background Check, is required upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.
