Twinkl Educational Publishing is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our engineering team. Location: Remote with Sheffield HQ visits 6 times a year. Annual salary: £60,000- £75,000.What you will be doingWork on a system rebuilding our experience using React, Next.js, TypeScript, and Node.js.Operate in a modern cloud architecture on AWS, including serverless and microservices.Collaborate with autonomous, product-centric teams to shape technical direction and deliver scalable solutions that serve millions of educators and learners.Build web applications and digital products with a focus on accessibility, performance, and reliability.Contribute across the stack including frontend (React/Next.js/TypeScript) and backend (Node.js/TypeScript) where applicable.Own your code end-to-end, from design through deployment, in a DevOps environment with CI/CD practices.What we need from youExperience with React/Next.js + TypeScript for frontend and/or Node.js + TypeScript for backend.If you can do both, great; otherwise, comfort with one side and a desire to grow into a full-stack role.Experience owning code end-to-end in a collaborative DevOps environment.Extensive experience in web development for large-scale, cloud-based systems with CI/CD.Deep expertise in modern frontend frameworks (especially React) and essential web technologies (HTML, CSS, JavaScript, TypeScript) and accessibility (a11y).Experience with automated testing and familiarity with TDD.Experience in product-centric teams that value strong engineering practices such as TDD and pair programming.Value cross-functional collaboration and continuous improvement.What’s in it for youA friendly, welcoming culture with an emphasis on people over process.Flexible working options: fully remote and hybrid.33 days annual leave per year (pro rata), with accrual up to 38 days after two years.Additional Me Day for personal time.Charity day to volunteer for a registered charity of your choice.Westfield Health benefits and related discounts.Learning and Development opportunities and potential internal mobility.4 x annual salary life assurance and enhanced pension after long service.Enhanced parental and adoption leave after long service.Quarterly awards and a free Twinkl subscription.Seniority levelMid-Senior levelEmployment typeFull-timeJob functionEngineering and Information TechnologyIndustries: Primary and Secondary EducationWe are committed to diversity and inclusion.
