Overview
As a Senior Sustainability Strategy Manager you will drive work to continuously develop Heathrow's strategic approach to sustainability, with a focus on understanding and delivering impact on priority issues, as defined by a robust materiality process.
You will also ensure that Heathrow's overarching sustainability strategy aligns with Heathrow's business strategy, and with topic-specific sustainability strategies and plans, and work with teams across the business to ensure it is clearly interpreted for key stakeholder groups.
Responsibilities
- Regularly review, update and strengthen Heathrow’s sustainability strategy, helping to set the strategic direction for the company and driving a rigorous and structured approach to identifying sustainability priorities
- Monitor and understand emerging external trends in sustainable business to ensure Heathrow understands its strategic context and maintains a leadership approach
- Create strategic alignment between the sustainability strategy and the corporate strategy through the development of strong working relationships with key strategic people
- Develop tools, approaches and guidance to help embed and align sustainability strategy with key business processes, for example supply chain management, governance and business planning
- Manage a cross-functional programme of engagement to ensure that the sustainability strategy is translated into a suite of roadmaps, annual targets and activity, with ownership clearly defined and aligned across Heathrow
- Clearly interpret of Heathrow’s sustainability strategy for use across the business and with external stakeholders, ensuring there is clarity on where collaboration would be beneficial
Qualifications
- Demonstrable interest in Heathrow’s strategic agenda and the sustainability issues facing the aviation sector
- Strong analytical and quantitative skills coupled with a creative and innovative approach to identifying solutions
- Excellent written and oral communication, to interact and influence credibly and effectively with a wide range of stakeholders including senior management and external partners
- Comfortable with corporate governance and processes, with the ability to prepare high quality reports, papers and materials
- Experience of working with teams of internal and external stakeholders with an open, straightforward and collaborative style
- Adaptable and comfortable navigating ambiguity and change
- Strong leadership capability to motivate and develop junior members of the team and influence colleagues in other teams
- Exceptional attention to detail, with strong organisational skills
