Overview

Senior Systems Consultant (Intelligent Infrastructure) role at WSP in the UK & Ireland.

WSP is looking for a Systems Consultant to join our Intelligent Infrastructure team. We provide consultancy and systems engineering services to transport clients across the UK and overseas. You will contribute to the capability of our digital systems engineering consultancy team, providing advice, assurance and delivery to clients across the system engineering lifecycle.

You will be part of a team that uses a tailored blend of lifecycle, service and business change delivery methods to provide high quality strategic advice, technical assurance, solution guidance, specification, system design, architecture, and testing assurance to mostly government clients. You will work closely with your clients, sometimes as their first point of contact, for technical advice. You will challenge assumptions and bring client solutions that create genuine benefit and exceed expectations. Our immediate need is for a consultant who can autonomously deliver project work associated with operational technology (e.g. signs and signals) on the English trunk road network, guiding more junior members of staff and reporting into our technical leads.

In this Role You Will

  • Think strategically and build relationships – apply thought leadership and build strong relationships with our clients and suppliers.
  • Collaborate effectively with the team – plug gaps as needed, work with a variety of clients and colleagues, coach/develop colleagues, and share successes.
  • Be balanced and pragmatic, knowing when to apply processes and plans (systematic) and when to apply flexible systems thinking.
  • Join the dots and work across disciplines.
  • Work independently in client facing environments and define project requirements for yourself. Use a strong problem-solving mindset, work effectively in ambiguous situations and escalate to senior staff when required.

What we will be looking for you to demonstrate

  • A degree in a relevant engineering discipline and professional registration with an accredited institute, or equivalent industry experience.
  • At least practitioner level against all the INCOSE Systems Engineering Competency Framework core competencies, and practitioner level across a broad range of professional, management and technical competencies.
  • Domain knowledge in a relevant industry (e.g., transportation or operational technology, business IT, software or engineering consultancy).
  • Experience of applying systems assurance to sizeable projects and programmes, and experience in client-facing roles.

Don’t quite meet all the criteria? Apply, and we can see how your experience aligns to this role and other opportunities within the team.
