Location: National (based in the UK).Job summary: Senior Technical Architect role at Justice Digital, part of the Legal Aid Agency team.Closing date: 19 October 2024.Contract type: Permanent, full-time.
Key Responsibilities
Collaborate with the Lead Technical Architect to create a technical vision for Legal Aid, develop strategy, and manage the technology estate.
Communicate technology across teams and the wider Ministry of Justice.
Align with senior stakeholders, providing technical direction and pragmatic compromise.
Analyse technical concepts, provide guidance for multi‑disciplinary decision making, and develop patterns and guidelines.
Advocate for secure by design principles and collaborate with risk, cyber, and information assurance leaders.
Champion diversity and inclusion across the engineering community.
Mentor, coach, and help recruit additional technical architects and leadership.
Tech Stack
Modern strategic software in Ruby, Java, Python and AWS (IaC, PaaS).
Domain‑Driven Design, TDD, CI/CD, micro‑services, event‑driven architecture.
Legacy enterprise systems (Oracle E‑Business Suite).
Cross‑functional collaboration with developers, SREs, security, product managers, and designers.

Person Specification
Experience as a software engineer, cloud engineer, or architectural role delivering web products.
Full stack knowledge: frontend, backend, API management, micro‑services, databases, event‑driven cloud architecture.
Strong communication, influencing and stakeholder engagement.
Security awareness in public cloud environments.
Champion best practices (TDD, CI/CD, DevOps).
SC clearance willingness.
